Introduction
Qualitative research has an interpretive rather than a positivistic inclination. This feature enables scientists to clarify concepts and theories by implementing qualitative methods. When testing a hypothesis, a person adheres to inductive methods (identifying the general from the particular), not deductive ones (Ravitch & Carl, 2020). Qualitative research works with data in which there is no structure, or it is not obvious, and their nature is not numbers or any categories (Rossman et al., 2021). It allows for information obtained in natural settings, which minimizes the risk of results distortion. Additionally, qualitative studies enable a researcher to choose a smaller sample to explore the issue.
Discussion
The chosen topic is appealing in a way that emotional intelligence is becoming more essential, especially in the sphere of service. When it comes to nursing, it is especially vital to be emotionally aware since the professionals have to work with miscellaneous clients with different backgrounds. Advantageously, prelicensure is taken into account since nurses should be taught to be emotionally intelligent before working in a healthcare facility. This is indeed a benevolent strategy to succeed; otherwise, there is a chance of negative health outcomes.
The selected method is an interview which is beneficial for a qualitative study because it will allow for data collection and further comparison. The enumeration of horizontal values presented in the proposal is useful as it demonstrates the understanding of these concepts and their practical implementation.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the chosen approach, design, and method seem appropriate for the qualitative study. Moreover, the selected problem statement is topical due to the increasing popularity of emotional intelligence in many fields of human activity. The research presents great interest to the nursing scientific community and can serve as a basis for further studies.
