Promoting and enhancing students’ critical thinking ability is crucial for developing new generations (Santos, 2017). As a person responsible for promoting critical thinking in my educational facilities, I would implement the 21st-century approach. The program will develop critical thinking by enhancing students’ communication, collaboration, and creativity (Franco et al., 2018). Moreover, the method of forward-thinking, which contributes to improving critical thinking by developing optimism and logic in students, will be implemented (Franco et al., 2018). Another method that I would implement to infuse critical thinking in my education facility is implementing an open-curriculum system. Education systems that allow students to create and plan their curriculum could stimulate critical thinking, making them concentrate on their objectives (Radulović & Stančić, 2017). Lastly, I would concentrate on teachers’ abilities to improve critical thinking among their students. For example, teachers may employ a method of debate to encourage students’ critical thinking by discussing controversial themes (Lorencová et al., 2019). Encouraging critical thinking in the education facility may have long-term positive effects on students’ personal development with forward-thinking, 21st-century methods, and an open curriculum.
The professional development in the faculty should also stimulate critical thinking. My recommendation is to increase the engagement of teachers in the process of professional development. For example, every teacher in my facility will be involved in creating education strategies, measures, and policies (Subitha, 2017). This method will improve teachers as professionals and enhance their critical thinking abilities as they are responsible for students’ success. In addition, leadership should be utilized appropriately in continuing professional development programs to maintain positive change. In order to support and maintain positive change in teaching, teachers should implement a specific leadership strategy. For instance, the strategies should be based on focusing on students, listening to their needs, and recommendations to improve the process of education. (Sandell & Zimmerman, 2017). Professional development is a crucial part of an education facility; the strategies and methods of development should match the modern standards and emphasize increasing the quality of education by promoting critical thinking.
