Time management is the optimal use of available time in carrying out set activities or responsibilities. It helps individuals prioritize goals and enable them to accomplish them on time. This skill is vital in every profession, including nursing, because the time misused by nurses can be used for patient care. This, in turn, has negative impacts on the quality of care provided for the patients. Determining how an individual uses their time is an essential factor in enabling one to be productive, remain focused, and improve the quality of work.

It is essential for individuals, especially in the nursing profession, to learn how to manage their time effectively to accomplish their set goals for various reasons. To begin with, learning the skill of time management helps individuals improve their focus and complete important tasks on time. Devoting a specific amount of time to particular projects prevents one from tackling too many work responsibilities at once. This, in turn, improves an individual’s focus towards better completing their given duties (Nayak, 2018). Additionally, time management allows individuals to become more productive in their workplace. One will be equipped to better complete many tasks more easily, quickly, and efficiently by the given deadlines, thereby improving productivity. Moreover, time management helps improve the quality of work delivered (Vizeshfar et al., 2022). This follows the fact that an individual will tend to take more time perfecting the quality of their job as they will have fixed time for each project in their daily routine. Therefore, one will have enough time to consider every attribute of a task and ensure that it has been completed correctly.

In conclusion, time management is a vital skill in every profession. This is because it enables individuals to improve their focus in accomplishing their given responsibilities in the workplace as they will have allocated time to deal with one project at a time. Moreover, time management helps individuals become more productive in their line of work since they can complete their duties easily and quickly. Lastly, effective time management improves the quality of work delivered because one will have time to perfectly complete their roles.
