Marketing through radio technology is a considerably traditional approach because it has been in use even before modern technological developments of electronic marketing. In radio technology, a marketer prepares a message to be presented and delivers the piece of information to a radio station, which then airs the message for transmission to radio receivers. Another traditional marketing strategy is direct mailing which involves direct individual contact with a prospective customer through mails. Unlike radio technique, direct mailing is a written communication approach that requires a level of literacy of its recipients.
Examples of techniques, which are directly portable to electronic commerce
Some of the traditional marketing techniques are directly portable to electronic commerce. Direct portability means that the techniques can be used in electronic commerce without further modifications. Radio and direct mailing are some of the ancient methods that can directly be incorporated into electronic commerce. Recordings that are used in radio marketing can directly be uploaded into the internet to form part of electronic commerce. Similarly, direct mailing can be achieved through email as a substitute to the manual mailing system of hand or postal delivery.
How marketing techniques that are not directly portable can be modified for online application
Even though some traditional marketing approaches such as the use of billboards cannot be directly incorporated into the online system, the application can be modified by making electronic prints that are presentable as pop up advertisements. This modified technique is similar to the billboard with the exemption that its presentation operates digitally.

Every product that has been marketed through traditional techniques can be marketed online. This is because while traditional marketing techniques have used manual approaches, they have been presented in two forms, oral and print. The two forms are equivalently applicable in electronic marketing.

An advantage of using newer communication strategies for different geographical areas is the motivation to workforces through boosting morale and stimulating curiosity. Some communication technologies, however, face geographical barriers. Consequently, a new technology that has not been tested my lead to communication breakdown.

A typical organizational communication situation would be issuing of notices to members. The most effective, cost effective and reliable technologies for use would be internet mailing system and notice boards. Though the online mailing system may differ for virtual and traditional workers, the two groups are familiar with notice boards.
Typical past and present communication situations
Both communication situations involve communication to a group of people. The most efficient and effective technologies are online mailing and use of mobile phones. Though application of mobile phones has always been efficient, mailing was not efficient to me as a student because I did not regularly check my mails. I however currently check mails several times a day.
