Introduction

The workforce is evolving, and the labor market is becoming more and more diverse. However, diversity can lead to issues in the workplace depending on how the managers refer to the hiring standards. Candidates actively apply to organizations that provide equal opportunities for diverse backgrounds. Diversified hiring attracts a high-quality workforce, increasing innovation and long-term productivity. Today, there are prevalent diversity concerns in the recruiting process, which involve race, age, gender, and socioeconomic status.

Recruitment, Retention, and Development

Diversity affects the hiring process, often leading to misunderstandings or continued hiring without results. One concern is race or ethnicity, which influences the hiring process (Kessler & Low, 2021). To solve this problem, I, as a hiring employer, would consider hiring people of different races and making sure that they do not discriminate against any applicant because of their race. Another factor is age, which should be considered when hiring not only older workers but also younger ones to create a balance of ideas and creativity (Epstein, 2022). A third factor is gender identity, which influences the hiring process in terms of job requirements (Birkelund et al., 2021).

I prefer to hire both men and women, as well as members of the LGBT community, regardless of how they identify. However, hiring managers must also ensure that they do not discriminate against other people in their efforts to create gender diversity. Another concern with diversified hiring is religion. I would hire employees from different religions, setting neutral boundaries in communication to avoid misunderstandings.

A final concern is socioeconomic status. To solve this problem, I would increase the need to hire workers from different classes, both from well-known wealthy families and from low-income families from poor areas, to equalize the statuses. Hence, diversified hiring is a complex process, but the problems can be easily addressed.

Conclusion

There are various concerns about diversity in the hiring process. Diversity in the workplace has many benefits. However, such a process does not mean that the implementation of initiatives does not have any weaknesses. Hiring managers often face issues related to race, age, gender, and socioeconomic status. These factors can be easily implemented and adapted to the hiring process, which would help avoid misunderstandings.
