The sphere of education has many significant issues, and one of them is the school performance of students from low-income families. There is no concrete evidence on the comparison of students from families with varying incomes. Therefore, the topic of my proposal will be the effect of the family income level on the academic performance of students.
There are several purposes of the paper, but the primary one is to discover the possible link between the school underperformance of students and the financial status of their families. Moreover, it will also be interesting to assess whether there is a gender gap between male and female students whose families face an economic disadvantage. As a result, the inquiry question which will guide my research will be the following one: “Is there a correlation between students’ school performance and the income level of their parents?”
The main idea which I bring to the project is that income inequality is a topical problem which can severely limit opportunities for people. One of the essential elements in people’s lives is education, yet there is a risk that students from poor families may not succeed due to a lack of finance (Kingdon et al., 2017). Personally, I know several people from low-income families who failed to progress academically and subsequently professionally, yet it is unknown whether it occurred due to their limited access to funding. Before developing working knowledge on the topic, I often wondered about the effects of the family’s low income on children’s school success. Due to the fact that I am genuinely concerned about the issue in question, it will definitely hold my interest for the next several weeks.
Income inequality is a problem faced by many families, and it is interesting to explore how it affects them in different ways. Education and school performance of students is one of the possible areas where income inequality can play a major role. Therefore, my proposal is to analyze the relationship between the academic performance of students and their families’ income levels.
