A versatile solution for a small to medium business for several reasons. The price range and the relatively powerful hardware for its class make it a good variant for many possible applications. The ThinkServer TS200v has several variations of configuration, with the most affordable starting as low as &299, with the dual-core 2.26 GHz Celeron G1101, all the way up to the $985 for Intel Core i5 CPU 650 with two cores running at 3.20 GHz and the RAID 1 capability. It comes with the rather simple Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation (Lynn par. 3).
Asus RT-AC68U Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Router
A solid router capable of managing the network of a small business, in case the four ports it is equipped with will be enough. Being dual-band, it communicates at both the 2.4 and the 5.0 GHz frequency bands, adding to the versatility and reliability. The speed tests show the router performs at one gigabit above the other products of the same class (Ngo par. 3), which allows for professional usage. Also has NAT capabilities and supports WPA2 encryption. It can be bought for $168.94.
D-Link 24-Port EasySmart Gigabit Ethernet Switch (DGS-1100-24)
One of the biggest switches in the family, this model sports 24 ports which will suffice for almost any small business. The ports support up to 1000 Mbit/s, which is currently enough for any LAN. For home usage, more affordable models with fewer ports are advised. The price tag of $149 makes it an affordable yet reliable choice.
Network Everywhere NH1005 10/100 5-Port Hub
This modest network hub is equipped with five 10BaseT/100BaseTX network ports, capable of up to 100 Mbit/s, which is currently insufficient for most of the modern hardware. Can be used for simple home applications, like house automation, especially considering its low price of 27.50. For high performance, network switches are recommended, which are generally superior devices and retain all the functionality of network hubs with additional features.
Edimax CV-7428nS 300Mbps Wireless N300 5-Port Universal Wi-Fi Media Bridge
This small device is used to add wireless functionality to any Ethernet-capable device. It is recommended for usage with gaming consoles and HDTVs but can function with any device. Equipped with five Ethernet ports, it states the possible data transfer rate of 300 Mbit/s, although the ports are of 100BaseTX class, and the actual speed may be lower. Comes in single-band and double-band varieties, with the latter being preferable at the price of $37.99.
CISCO 7613 router
The CISCO 7613 is the most advanced of the 7600 families of routers. The 7600 series are enterprise-class equipment intended for Metropolitan-Area Networks (MAN) and Wide-Area Networks (WAN). The 7613 model is the most powerful of the line, boasting a total throughput of 720 Gbps and a distributed forwarding rate of up to 400 Mpps (“Features, Applications, and Specs” par. 2). It is used in the fields where fault resiliency, redundancy, and performance are crucial qualities – mostly in large corporations and service providers. It is a 13-slot edge router (hence the name), which means it supports 13 line cards (“Cisco 7613 Router” par. 2).
This probably is one of his most interesting features, the other being its top performance compared to other members of the series. When fully loaded with line cards, the price of 7613 can range from $30,000 to $52,000, depending on the setup.
