Introduction
For nurse educators with an MSN degree, the nursing curriculum should be subject to some changes. This Community College program is outdated and no longer meets modern health requirements. To prepare future nurses to use technology, it is necessary to integrate appropriate teaching methods into the curriculum. The application of Levin’s Theory and the Kotter Model can support the initiative of introducing modern technology into nursing education, and it will be easier for the teacher to submit a new curriculum.
Application of Kotter’s Change Model
The Kotter Change Model can address the problem of the lack of training of professionals in using innovation. It emphasizes the importance of overcoming resistance to contemporary challenges and creating a culture of change, and it can be divided into steps (Carman et al., 2019). First and foremost, there is a need to create a sense of urgency and a constituency of change that will not necessarily be trained in nursing.
Following these actions, a strategy must be developed to achieve the objectives and presented to all parties with a stake in the process. In addition, there is a need to address the emerging obstacles to change by focusing on small victories demonstrating effectiveness. In the final analysis, it is necessary to consolidate the achievements of the new program to become a part of the training.
Application of Levin’s Change Theory
Levin’s theory of planned change has points of contact with the Cotter model. The theory developed defrosting, modification, and total freezing stages, which create stability after changes (Burnes, 2020). The plan should include clear objectives, strategies, and deadlines and consider stakeholders’ behavioral aspects. Using Levin’s Theory with Model Cotter will allow the nurse to ensure that the change strategy is qualitatively planned and long-term and that all participants are interested in the process.
Conclusion
Finally, the need to revise the curriculum may arise for any nurse teacher as a response to modern changes in the world. The Kotter model can set the right direction for the strategy and ensure the participation of all parties, and the Levin theory will create additional planning and support for initiatives. Sharing these change management approaches will help nurses start quickly and qualitatively learning new curricula that will teach them to navigate modern innovation.
