Personality Theories
Rationale
One of the main personality theories, the behaviorist one, has been extensively studied by researchers. The following articles are reliable and valid as they are based on recent studies, have been published in reputable journals, and illustrate information reviewed by experts in the field. Šlipogor et al. (2022) highlight the environment as the primary driver of personality, while Guercio (2020) highlights the behavior as more prone to respond to a mediational approach. The same concept applies when it comes to rewarding or punishing, as the theory implies that humans act according to the benefits they are to obtain (Bishop et al., 2016). The theory is the basis of cognitive behavioral therapy (Sturges, 2020). The intervention has been found to be effective in addressing various conditions, including OCD (Abramowitz et al., 2018). Researchers mention it is the gold standard of psychology as it is the most evidence-based approach (David et al., 2018). Thus, the sources mentioned previously can be collectively applied while examining the behaviorist personality trait and interventions based on its framework, such as cognitive behavioral therapy.
