Sura 5, “The Table” highlights the basic peculiarities of Islam and Judaism. It allows comparing and contrasting Islam and old Jewish traditions. “The Table” provides the reader with a detailed description of the two religions and highlights the major differences between them in different periods of their existence. It evaluates the main aspects of the Islamic rules and Jewish traditions.
According to the data presented in the Sura 5 “The Table” it is not difficult to underline the main differences between Islam and old Jewish traditions. The major aspect of their differences is certainly the basis for belief. Islam is merely concentrated on individual prophetic claims convincing others to follow his ideas. Old Jewish traditions cover different events of divine revelation in history which were experienced by the whole nation. Nevertheless, both religions have a common concept of God.
“The Table” underlines the fact that Islamic traditions ad rules are merely based on the features of Jewish ones. It accepts the ideas and views of the Jewish Bible; according to Mohammed, who is considered to be the father of Islam, most Islamic traditions were formed based on the Jewish population’s experience. It concerns traditions of eating, daily praying, etc.
The Verses of “The Table” gradually demonstrate connections between Islam and Judaism. “The Jews and Christians should accept Islam”. (v. 15) It underlines plenty of differences between these two religions, though there are vivid differences between them. The main goal of Islam and the thing it strives to is to conquer the whole world; it rejects any interactions and interferences with its religious norms and established traditions. The power of Islam is especially underlined in Sura 5 disclosing the fact that this religion became more influential and important and it represents the interests of Arabs reflecting strong ideas of Islamic principles.
Verses described in “The Table” highlight the differences in human relations between Islam and old Jewish traditions. It underlines major prohibitions of nations’ interrelations and strict rules that should be compulsory obeyed and followed. According to the research carried out, Jews changed Torah, though Islam never supported this fact. Philosophical ideas of Islam and the Jewish religion as well differ in the vision of the holy world.
Judaism and Islam are considered to be “Abrahamic religions”. Abraham’s son is regarded to be the father of Arabs both for Islam and Judaism. In Islam, he is also considered to be the prophet of the religion. According to “The Table” no one can reject Islam and that person who does it is considered to be the looser.
Sura 5 “The Table” managed to disclose the main peculiarities and differences of Islamic and old Jewish traditions. It underlined the power of the Koran and Islam in the world of Judaism and Christianity. The verses presented describe the major rules and principles of the two religions. One can observe some familiar features concerning the sphere of belief between Islam and Judaism. It is important to stress that Islamic ideas were initially based on the views of Judaism and the main rules of Islamic religion were originated from it. One can examine the close connection between the Biblical views of both religions. “The Table” highlighted the fact that these two religions are closely interrelated with each other though they contain certain contradictions. Nevertheless, old Jewish traditions left a print on the development of Islamic religion and its ideas.
