A bizarre story happened in Asheville where the police have reportedly arrested an old woman who is thought to be a killer. The sixty-three-year-old woman committed the offense in the Crowell Square Court. The woman was assaulted and is reported to have died later.
Police on Monday arrested a woman who is alleged to have killed a woman named Margaret Jones Cable. The murder is believed to have happened after the woman sustained injuries that caused a lot of bleeding. The police identified the suspect as Rebecca Ruth Krueger who was born in 1947.
According to eyewitnesses, the two women had an argument and a scuffle ensued. Mrs. Krueger is said to have pushed Mrs. Cable several times against a post. She is then reported to have banged her on the door. Mrs. Cable became unconscious after hitting the door and was taken to the mission hospital by the neighbors.
An eyewitness who claims to have heard the argument said that Mrs. Cable was bleeding profusely as she lay on the ground. Mrs. Parker who also lives in Crowell Square Court says that she was on her way to the mall when she found the victim unconscious.
“I saw Mrs. Cable lying on the ground and then saw Mrs. Krueger leave the scene in a hurry. Her clothes were stained in blood,” Mrs. Parker reported.
Mrs. Kruger was released on a bond of twenty thousand dollars. Police say that they are waiting for an autopsy report so that they can determine the charges to press. Police spokeswoman Mellissa Williams said that it was the autopsy report that would give them the clue on whether to charge the suspect with the cause of the serious assault.
The police spokeswoman said any further details regarding the incident will be released to the media and public through the Asheville police department website. When asked if the numbers of homicides are on the increase in Asheville, Mrs. Williams replied that the police are doing everything within their means to prevent these cases. She also said that the number of voluntary manslaughters in Asheville stood at fifty-six.
“The police are increasing the number of patrols in Asheville to ensure that everyone is safe in their homes,” The police spokeswoman said.
The assaulted victim has since died and the police have charged Mrs. Krueger with manslaughter. The spokesperson said that this is an offense that attracts a maximum sentence of fourty years. The police are still looking at the motive of the murder and if it is related to any other case that has happened in the neighborhood.
Police statistics indicate that homicides are not prevalent in Asheville and they said that this was an isolated case but they would continue with the investigations. The neighborhood that the crime was committed is known to be peaceful and the police spokeswoman urged the residents to report any suspicious people who they think may cause harm to them.
The report was on the assault of a woman in the Crowell Square Court. The assault led to the arrest of the main suspect Mrs. Krueger. She was charged with assault and later charged with manslaughter after the death of the victim. The police have promised to give a detailed report on their website or through the media.
