Often there are moments in history that raise questions as to the real circumstances that took place, unfortunately just as often, it is almost impossible to return to the point in time and see the true events as they happen. The cases of J.F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe fit the description of mysterious and controversial ones. Needless to say there are a number of theories that suppose how things really happened and the conspiracy possibilities that surround the deaths of these famous individuals.

John Kennedy, the president of the United States of America was gunned down while riding in his car in plain public view. There is no denying that the killing was intentional and well planned. Also it is clear that the forces, which participated in the organization and carrying out of this, are very well connected and have power to commit something this grandeur. The questions start when the reasons for the act are raised and who would benefit from this the most. Many people believe that this was a secret plot of government officials, who opposed the ideas and goals of Kennedy. Others say that it was done with the complete involvement of the Central Intelligence Agency, which it very persistently denies and considers an insult (Ray 5). As with any level of power, there are people who want to gain more of it and use it for their own purposes and intentions based on greed. And there will always be those who take much effort to create better conditions for the people of the country, excluding themselves from the unethical and illegal routes. The assassination was such an extraordinary, unexpected, shocking and difficult to comprehend, that when people heard the “official” story, they didn’t believe it, seeing a great plot behind it, since Kennedy passionately wanted to make the place a better world (Gibson 40). There are individuals seeking out the truth, wanting to bring justice to people who were responsible for the tragedy and are continuing to provide questions and details about the situation. There will always be people who want to fight for the goodness and truth, punishing anyone who breaks laws, personal freedoms or commits any other immoral acts. When analyzing personal opinion, it is rather difficult to exclude either possibility, both personal revenge and political conspiracy. It is a fact that there are many things the governments keep from the general public, having their own explanations of the reasons, be it mass panic, induction of further terrible acts or a creation of misinformed and misguided speculating opinions. To answer the question of why John F. Kennedy was killed, one would have to be present in that period of time, to understand the politics and the general atmosphere that existed in the country, nation. One version, which is considered to be the official one called “Warren Commission Report”, states that it is Lee Harvey Oswald who was indeed the shooter and that he acted alone. This report was made by the US house of representative. One of the purposes could be that the US government wanted to blame an individual instead of possibly taking the blame for being unable to protect the president, or worse, by having an involvement in the matter (Knight 78). Even though there seems no denying that Oswald was the real shooter, there are very many questions that are directed towards the government and higher institutions. It is plausible that all the evidence, down to the gun and the bullets that matched the sniper rifle of Oswald, were all fabricated to make it look so definite and undeniable, as to divert any attention from the real assassinators. This is the general opinion of many people, who are familiar with the case.

Marilyn Monroe’s death was also a very controversial case, which has numerous theories, both personal and political. The investigation and the coroner’s reports show an overdose due to the medication that Monroe used in the treatment of her condition. It is said to have been not a deliberate act, so this first version states that it was an accidental case (Spoto 583). The theory that Marilyn deliberately took such a large amount of pills to commit suicide is also very dominant in the history books. There were numerous previous “attempts” when she tried to kill herself but most of those reports were opposed by the many opinions of friends, who said that she never tried to commit suicide and was really a very friendly and happy person (Kidder 9). As Monroe was a well known actress and a model, she had many relationships with other famous people in the Hollywood. There is a theory that one of the people who was close to her, including her household keeper and physician were involved, with many reasons to consider (Kohn 274). But the most controversial version is that John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert Kennedy were directly involved, together or separately. She first had a romantic relationship with John Kennedy but later, Robert Kennedy became involved and was the last Kennedy to be close with her. Their motive would be that she knew too much delicate and sensitive information, related to the politics and the actions of the governments, which would compromise and endanger their position and status (Piccard 127). It is clear that the government and Kennedy brothers personally denied any involvement directly or indirectly. It is speculated that if there was indeed the involvement of the government, then they had removed all sorts of evidence that could point to those responsible. There was enough time between her death and the arrival of the police, in which to destroy or acquire any compromising evidence. Those who do not believe the suicide version claim that the position she was found in, was very awkward and a person who was committing suicide would not possibly be in such (Austin 155). One of the other “suspects” was doctor Engelberg, who testified as not giving her any prescriptions in the past 3 weeks but when evidence with his prescriptions surfaced, he claimed that he forgot about them. His motives could be personal but there is no guarantee that someone else from the government or other political structures was not involved. Another doctor—Greenson, was just as well “forgetful and disorganized” with his prescriptions, which seems very irregular for a doctor who is prescribing such mind-influencing drugs.

“The two doctors knew this didn’t make any kind of sense so Greenson and Engelberg concocted a cockamamie story about how she went behind both their backs to get another Nembutal prescription and another refill. The doctor’s weren’t very creative.” (Margolis 7).

There are always people who search for the truth, suspect everything and want to find the real evidence behind this highly questionable case. I think that Marilyn Monroe’s circumstances of death were not very clear and this is a major point. It is not always easy to create suspicion in something that is obvious and easily proved. Her death has very many factors and traces that seem irregular, the presence of which is usually non-existent in a clear cut occurrence.

History is full of cases that raise questions and eyebrows due to their circumstances, as well as the explanations and conclusions made by private individuals, the general public, the government and those directly involved in the investigation. The assassination of John F. Kennedy was without a doubt deliberate. This fact alone raises questions as to the reasons of anyone doing this. Most likely the politics played a role in this matter, as Kennedy was taking the country in a direction not welcomed by many. A personal revenge is also possible but it is mostly denied, as the involvement of different agencies responsible for the safety and organization of the country are surrounded by several irregularities (McAdams 12). Marilyn Monroe and her connection with John Kennedy seems almost unbelievable, as both of them fell victims of circumstances that are hard to figure out and prove. The fact that they had a relationship, had a high status in the society, and then ended their lives in such unexpected and controversial ways, makes one wonder if everything is really as simple as it is made out to be.

One fact is true no matter what, someone’s personal interest in their deaths is completely acceptable and the possibility of the government taking part in the conspiracy or covering of information that could be considered unordinary is very plausible. It is unfortunate how hard it is sometimes to find the truth but this does not mean that the search for it should be stopped.
