“Do not follow the crowd, let the crowd follow you” is a famous quote of Margaret Thatcher about Leadership (Maeh, 2018). But the real question is how to make the crowd follow you. It is the part that Margaret Thatcher left for us to decide.
Having entered the XXI century, people make amazing scientific discoveries, create new generation technologies. Humanity is entering a qualitatively new phase of its development. The world is on the verge of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Many terrible diseases are successfully eradicated. The role of law in those achievements should not be underestimated. Humanity would not be able to make such progress without properly established law and regulations.
The law and leadership are strongly connected notions. The law, which everyone would respect and follow, is difficult to establish. It required good leadership skills to make the crowd follow the ideology and laws that are being proposed. Leadership is primarily associated with the concept of responsibility (Harrison, 2017). If the word ‘leadership’ contains the concept of ‘responsibility,’ identified with the word ‘opportunities’ as the ability to influence, the ability to manage, the ability to create a result – it will be interesting! And if there is a lot of creativity in it, it will be easy.
In the XXI century, each of us must show leadership qualities to succeed in life. However, leadership does not necessarily mean being CEO or director of a company. Leadership qualities can be demonstrated by simply obeying the law as well. By doing so, we are an example to everyone else, which is a true leadership action. We should not think that leadership is somewhere beyond our abilities. Leadership can be simple enough and is within every individual. So, let us be leaders and shape the better world we live in!
