Introduction
If elected to the US House of Representatives, the best approach to improving the lives of Florida citizens would be to uphold people’s engagement. It is the best way to impact their livelihood and make their lives meaningful. The introduction of proposals that become laws to protect health equity, improve food security, enforce safety measures, and other efforts to improve people’s lives would benefit greatly from consistent two-way dialogue with Florida residents. By giving people a chance to talk about their experiences, government initiatives and services would work well and benefit the people.
Discussion
Every member has an opportunity to initiate a bill, after which it is handed to the clerk. The House or Senate speaker sends the proposal to the select committee for further consideration. The bill can be amended and discussed in the committee (Hertel-Fernandez et al., 2019). To issue a bill to the President for signature, it should first be endorsed by a majority of the Congress. Legislation that the President has vetoed can be overridden if two-thirds of the chamber members vote in its favor. A bill is officially enacted into law if it receives the President’s signature or a veto is overturned.
As a fundamental principle, the filibuster is anti-popular since it enables a few senators to derail legislation supported by most Americans. With the filibuster, senators can delay or kill legislation by debating it to a standstill (Hertel-Fernandez et al., 2019). In the United States Senate, a filibuster is an attempt to obstruct a vote on legislation by prolonging the debate on the issue. Since there are few limits on the discussion in the Senate, a senator who requests recognition is often allowed to talk for as long as they choose if no other senator is speaking.
Conclusion
An example of a bill that would benefit the community is the proposal of a legislative framework that fosters collaboration and coordination to integrate patient care. Public health, social care, and quality and safety control are some areas that would see specific improvements under the proposed framework. Organizations and agencies coordinating over smaller geographical areas would drive much of the action to consolidate care and improve population health. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) would be strengthened to oversee the provision and upholding of excellent patient care in the United States.
