The strategic management process is heavily influenced by leaders who play an integral part in every organization. Leadership is a core element of firms and is very crucial in determining the company’s mission and objectives. It also makes it easier for the company to implement effective tactics to attain that mission. As a result, the importance of leadership behaviors with effective strategy implementation is immense.
To start, leadership is a set of behaviors that encourages teams to generate corporate goals and then motivates them to work together to achieve those goals. The importance of leadership behavior lies in the ability to guarantee the company’s growth while sustaining the efficiency of organizational processes (Mubarak & Yusoff, 2019). While implementing key tasks, a leader motivates and encourages their employees (Mubarak & Yusoff, 2019). A leader ensures that everyone in the company is included, as this has a substantial impact on performance (Sonmez Cakir & Adiguzel, 2020). In this respect, the leader’s passion and devotion are drivers for achieving the strategic objective.
As for the qualities and behaviors that are important in a leader relevant to strategy implementation, these include thorough patience, good communication, and self-awareness. Strategic leadership entails patience, implying that leaders must exercise self-control over compulsive tendencies that may mislead or harm their organization. Moreover, strategic leaders must possess the quality of quality communication. Leadership entails that both employees and supervisors are aware of what is happening in their company and give the necessary data to assist everyone and keep them informed. Lastly, strategic leaders must be self-aware and have a deep understanding of the people in their team and company, and they should be highly conscious, which means they understand how their emotions and behaviors influence others around them.
Hence, leadership behavior plays an integral role in effective strategy implementation. With the help of leadership, it is possible to optimize organizational processes on all levels. Leaders can establish the objective, communicate the message that is relevant to the objective, and motivate the team to implement the strategies. Meanwhile, it is crucial to understand that strategic leadership entails patience, good communication, and self-awareness since these qualities allow them to see the bigger picture, keep emotions under control, and create a healthy environment for strategy implementation.
