Organizational change is often associated with leadership as leaders can influence changes in many ways and even provoke them. According to Oreg & Berson (2019), leadership significantly impacts organizations in times of change, while managers are considered the change leaders. Therefore, it is essential for me as a leader to understand how I will influence change in the area of my professional specialty. I believe that changes stimulate progress and are the energy source in any field, especially in business and business management. Thus, as a leader, I will do everything in my power to control the changes within my organization and make them work for the company’s benefit. I will constantly analyze the current business environment and the company’s resources so that the company is always ready to face the changes when they come and make them profitable. To achieve that, I will always ensure that the upcoming changes converge with the organization’s goals and purpose.
I intend to succeed in everything described above, and I have several strengths that will help me be an efficient leader and work for the company’s profit. The first strength is related to my communicational skills and my ability to always come to agreements with other people while satisfying each other’s interests. That skill will help me work with the company’s human resources effectively because I believe I can analyze them and then use my leadership skill and charisma to establish the most efficient working state. In other words, I can guide and direct people while inspiring them to do their job effectively to achieve the company’s goals. My second strength is my ability to think forward and always be ready for the challenges my organization may face while seeking solutions in a time of need. If there is an issue within my company, I will either be ready for it or able to solve it quickly with minimum or no damage to the organization and its members.
However, there are several potential improvements to my leadership skills. First, I behave too decently sometimes, meaning that I will often act in the best interests of my employees or people under my direction. Although it is not a direct disadvantage of my leadership skills, a leader has to be strict and steadfast sometimes. Second, I can sometimes be “too much of a leader” as I always want everything to go my way. Though I understand I often have to consider the circumstances, other people’s opinions, and the corresponding environment when making a decision, it can be challenging for me to sacrifice my initial intentions.
Nevertheless, I have identified two priority strategies I will implement to improve my leadership skills. First, I will be setting my mind to constantly thinking of organizational success as a top priority. Second, I will make my leadership skills discrete and use them only as tools for achieving the company’s goals. Following these strategies will help me to enhance my skills and become an efficient leader.
