Competent leadership has always been important for organizations and communities, as it organizes people to achieve global goals through joint efforts. In modern society, more and more people are not just a labor force but highly qualified people with ambitions. This means they are interested in creativity, self-realization, and maintaining self-esteem. Consequently, a modern leader must consider the new conjuncture and the needs of employees and combine them with the benefit of the business.
One strategy for business improvement leadership is to encourage employee creativity and experimentation. This involves providing resources and support for innovation and creating a culture of risk-taking and experimentation (Kremer et al., 2019). Leaders can promote creativity by providing autonomy, training, and resources and encouraging cross-functional collaboration. For example, they can create “innovation labs” where employees can work on new projects without fear of failure or provide opportunities to attend industry events and conferences to stay up-to-date with new developments.
Another strategy for leadership in business improvement is to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration. The accumulation and transmission of data are essential in the information society and allow employees to develop and communicate effective practices (Kremer et al., 2019). The organization should create learning platforms, hold conferences, encourage employees to create training programs, and participate in onboarding for new professionals. Moreover, leaders can promote cross-departmental collaboration by forming teams consisting of individuals from various departments and motivating them to exchange their knowledge and concepts.
A third strategy for leadership in business improvement is to practice active listening and empathy, as modern workers want to be heard and participate in decision-making. Leaders should listen to employees’ ideas and concerns and show empathy and understanding (Schooley, 2023). Effective communication and connection can inspire people to be more engaged and motivated, improving business performance.
There are many other ways to improve leadership in an organization by simultaneously developing companionate and innovative leaders. They must understand that the current position of a manager is not an authoritarian leadership but a democratic collaboration that benefits everyone. Leaders should receive basic training in psychology, conflict resolution, and best management practices. Moreover, they must be able to put the organization’s and employees’ interests first and create methods of their intersection.
