Introduction
Teamwork is an important part and foundation of any project, be it a student assignment or a work project, and even in personal relationships. Each group is divided into roles, which perform specific duties and necessitate special abilities. Leaders are the group’s connecting position among all the roles (Eastwood, 2022). All people have leadership qualities to some degree, so I would like to consider both specific leadership qualities and the effect they have on studies, daily life, and work.
Leadership Qualities
Leadership skills do not develop from birth; they do not depend on genetics but appear with experience and practice. I think that two fundamental leadership qualities in the 21st century can be identified courage to take responsibility and openness to new ideas (Eastwood, 2022). The path of the leader begins by taking responsibility for the entire team. This person takes on the responsibility of leading the team to success and, at the same time, is willing to accept that failure will also be their fault. Therefore, such a decision requires courage and self-confidence, and by setting an example for his colleagues or fellow students, the leader conveys his enthusiasm to them. Salas-Vallina et al. (2018) describe this process in the workplace, where employees, under the guidance of inspiring leaders with strong charisma, enter the leadership web, where their productivity and motivation are markedly increased (Andrés Salas-Vallina et al., 2018). I also consider openness to new ideas and proposals to be another important leadership quality.
Influence of Leadership on Life: Work Impact
The very influence of leadership on life is different from person to person because, just like in all people, leadership qualities are developed in different ways, so the reflection in this paragraph may differ from others. I can state that courage and critical thinking, as leadership qualities, have a significant impact on my life, affecting my work, study, and even my personal life at the same time. Firstly, developing leadership qualities has a direct impact on job success. Courage, responsibility, and advanced thinking outside the box are qualities that are especially valued in today’s creative professions (Tjosvold et al., 2022). In my opinion, this is why it is necessary to develop soft skills on par with hard skills so that they complement each other.
Influence of Leadership on Life: Study Impact
Secondly, responsibility is undeniably important in learning, but openness to new ideas is the most important soft skill in principle, which reflects how much benefit learning will bring to a person. Zeike et al. (2019, para. 21) used the example of their research work to consider leadership in the digital era using the example of students, citing statistics that academically, students with more developed adaptation and critical thinking cope 43% better than others in group work. In my opinion, the development of leadership skills during and at the same time as studying is the same as creating the foundation for a future person.
Influence of Leadership on Life: Daily Life Impact
Thirdly, in personal life, leadership skills do not have such a noticeable effect as in other areas, but they are still associated with many processes in life. Leadership courage is responsible for taking the initiative in relationships; I believe that these qualities help build trusting and healthy relationships with others. Research by Zhang and Min (2019, pp. 225–238) proves this, showing that a lack of initiative in interpersonal relationships leads to more conflict. This clearly shows that developed soft skills help not only at work or in school but also in everyday life, as a necessity for social interactions.
Conclusion
Lastly, courage, responsibility, openness, and critical thinking are leadership qualities, an extremely important element that makes up the success of teamwork in all areas of life. From work to personal life, leadership has a significant impact and importance, which varies for each person depending on the characteristics of soft skills. Therefore, it is important to properly develop and use leadership qualities, using them in group work.
