Abstract
This research paper will explore the factors that promote effective leadership in a multi-international organisation. The paper investigates the objective of reviewing the impact of talent on leadership sustainability. Through the mixed research method, the paper reveals the disparities between actual and ideal factors that make leadership effective in any organisation.
Keywords: Talent, Motivation, and Organization Structure.
Project description
This research paper will explore the factors that promote effective leadership in a multinational organisation. The paper surveys the aspect of talent, which envisions natural skill and ability to gain proficiency through personal experiences and relevant training. Constant and reliable training may equip a person with the necessary skills that are required to demonstrate mature leadership characterised by persistence and experience within a multinational organisation.
The current state of the problem
Sustainability and quality of leadership are critical towards fulfilling the vision and missions of any multinational organisation. Even though numerous studies have been carried on effective leadership, there is a scarcity of empirical information available on the role of talent and ability of effective leadership in an organisation. This research project will attempt to establish how leadership effectiveness on the tenet of sustainability and quality can be measured.
Research objective, questions and rationale
The main objective of the research is to develop a framework for proper leadership application and strategic management within a multinational organisation that has a framework for sustainable leadership skills module. To achieve this objective, the research will look at the best leadership practices from major multinational organisations to provide evidence-based solutions to current leadership challenges. The following are the proposed research questions.
- What is the relevance of skills and ability in leadership initiatives within multinational organisations?
- How effective is the multinational organisations’ utilisation of contact channel management as a quality measurement element in their leadership modules?
- How do international organisations manage their motivation systems to enhance effective leadership initiatives?
Literature review
According to Aimar and Stough (2007), Leadership Inventory Practice (LPI) assesses human acts when interacting with different situations in an organisation. This assessment is helpful, especially for leaders who intend to know how to influence people and communicate effectively. Also, leadership skills are normally influenced by situational and personal experiences. The attitude of encouragement is important in an organisation. Leaders should appreciate and encourage positive contributions. Shared objectives are helpful because they guide an organization to embrace desired outcomes while discouraging unfavourable attitudes (Aimar and Stough 2007).
Leadership Inventory Practice (LIP) development is vital in understanding psychological principles which form the links between the ability to inspire and human behaviour in an organisation. Organisations across the contemporary business environment have unique subcultures which define expected behaviour and response to different occurrences. The organisational subcultures are unique in terms of beliefs, practices, and communicative gestures. These gestures define the hierarchy of responsibility and control (Garvin, Edmondson and Gino 2008).
Application of leadership development strategies in an organisation facilitates advanced stages of maladaptive leadership skills and talents. These aspects are complementary to each other and are active in modelling a broad vision candidate who can inspire positive change and motivate people. Thus, my research will relate the elements of ability and training in the creation of effective leadership skills. I intend to relate these elements to talent and motivation within an organisation.
Basic information sources
The information sources will come from the class reading books, research journals and class notes.
Research Strategy
This research will adopt the social survey strategy since the number of targeted respondents is more than twenty.
Research Methodology
The researcher will be involved in preparing both quantitative and qualitative research phases, implementing the survey and interviews, and analysing the data gathered. A sample space of 30 participants will be interviewed. Adaptation of this sample space would not compromise the aspect of comparative study in decision making since it gives room for comparison to another set of data (Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill 2009). The collected quantitative data will be coded and passed through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version seventeen. To quantify the relationship between the independent and dependent variable, ANOVA will be essential besides figures, charts, and tabular representation of correlation analysis.
Structure of the project
Week 1: Research Commencement
This stage will involve reviewing the research topic and rationale for the proposed hypothesis.
Week 2: Choosing the case study
Choosing the case study will be very challenging since different researchers and research papers adopt diverse approaches to testing dependent and independent variables.
Week 3: Background research
Since materials are available for the research topic, the researcher will have an easy time in merging the relevant material with the research question.
Week 5: Conducting a literature review
This stage will be very demanding for the researcher since different sources of information will be reviewed.
Week 6: Conducting interviews, collecting data and analysing data
The researcher will have to balance direct interviews, questionnaires and other methods of research to present information about the topic during this stage.
Week 7: Research conclusion
The findings will be interpreted and related to the research question during this stage.
Expected Results
There is a general assumption that the participants are already practising effective leadership in their organizations. The expected results will conclude that most or all the respondents are not aware of the elements of talent and ability on effective leadership despite having experience in exercising leadership in their organizations. This research will be pursued through the inclusion of an informed consent form in the interview and questionnaire to address any ethical concerns.
