Introduction
People are unique creatures who impose many senses into their lives. It is the aspect that differentiates the human species from animals. Lifetime personalizes physical features such as body changes, growth processes, instinctive development, and others.
However, in the progressive world, psychological evolution is given serious consideration. There are many more domains in which a character is evaluated over a lifespan. Each period of human existence in this world is directed toward resolving specific tasks that help a person advance on multiple levels.
Discussion
Lifespan development is a complex process with stages, domains, and aspects that each experiences. It also refers to a discipline that studies personality’s capacity to change and remain the same over the life course (Kali and Cavanaugh 2023, 36). It is stimulated by specific forces, namely biological, psychological, sociocultural, and life-cycle (Kali and Cavanaugh 2023, 8).
All of them interact with one another and are responsible for the factors that affect progress. The field of neuroscience, which deeply researches human development, focuses on exploring the nervous system through multiple analyses (Kali and Cavanaugh, 2023, 11). Lifespan evolution and its research aim to define, assess, explain, and improve the quality of life.
Various studies offer sets of theoretical perspectives on lifetime development that discuss the process through the prism of different bodies of literature. However, there is one perspective that aligns with me the most – competence-environmental press theory. It states that people adapt most effectively to a particular environment when their skills and abilities align with its demands (Kali and Cavanaugh, 2023, 19). For me, it is essential to stay up to date and comply with the requirements of a changing world and environment. In such cases, I feel “like a fish in water” and can be more valuable and productive for myself and others.
Everyone must read chapters 1 and 2 because they contain valuable, necessary information that illuminates both the complex and straightforward peculiarities of people’s psychology and its coexistence with multiple environments. I would present these chapters to others as they introduce interesting facts. For instance, chapter 1 explains how to undertake developmental research through various helpful online tools (Kali and Cavanaugh 2023, 33). Chapter 2 defines complex factors such as behavioral genetics that have a direct impact on human evolution and the surrounding population (Kali and Cavanaugh 2023, 47). Eventually, these points become familiar to people, though in a changing world, they bring new ideas and perspectives.
As mentioned before, the chapters provide different types of information, some new and some familiar. For me, the aspects of adjusting to parenthood and fetal medicine are known; however, after reading, I learned the topics more deeply. It was interesting to discover that the feminine organism returns to normal functioning within 5-6 weeks after birth (Kali and Cavanaugh 2023, 45). Considering fetal medicine, I discovered many tests that help to evaluate the normal development of the fetus (Kali and Cavanaugh, 2023, 68). As a result, known material can present something new and valuable.
Some facts surprised me, stating that behavioral genetics has a significant influence on lifespan (Kali and Cavanaugh 2023, 47). Behavior that is inherited from birth can be maintained throughout life without significant changes, for instance, extroversion or introversion (Kali and Cavanaugh 2023, 47). These aspects define a person’s future circle of communication and place in society. Consequently, it directly impacts the quality of evolution and their ability to handle challenging situations in different environments.

Conclusively, lifespan development is a continuous process with stages that unfold at different times in human life, emphasizing both personality changes and sameness. Among the theories connected with this notion, competence-environmental press theory should be distinguished because it touches practically every individual in this world. The chapters read provide valuable insights by explaining psychology from an evolutionary and societal perspective.
