Human sexuality has become one of the current issues nowadays. There are a number of researches devoted to this subject. Ludwin Molina’s research is devoted to the subject of human sexuality. The researcher investigates the role of sexuality in human life. It is considered to be an integrated part of our everyday life despite the differences in gender, culture, and nationality. Ludwin Molina explores human sexuality as a motivation taking into account its biological, mental, and learning perspectives.
Human sexuality is defined as “the way in which people experience themselves and express themselves as sexual beings” in this research. There are a lot of factors influencing the importance of sexuality in a human life where gender is considered to be the prevailing one. Gender influences the development of sexuality considerably. Human sexuality is considered to be the primary source of motivation that presupposes the urgency of this research.
The author uses different methods in the research, including the survey method, the observational method, the experimental method, the correlational method, and the case study method. These methods help to research the notion of human sexuality from different points of view. There are methods based on pure descriptions and those that aim at the analysis of human behavior and relationships.
Ludwin Molina bases his research on three main perspectives. First of all, human sexuality is observed as a biological instinct. Human sexuality is mainly forced by hormones. The researcher presents the role of different hormones connected to sexuality and their influence on the behavior of males and females as well. Sexual arousal is presented as one of the main elements of sexual behavior. Cognitive activities are strictly connected to human sexuality. The basic two processes of the brain work are perceptions and evaluations that influence a human reaction to sexual arousal. The researcher differentiates three components of perception. They are attribution, detection, and labeling. Detection is the awareness of a stimulus. Labeling is a number of descriptors used by the individual to categorize this situation. Attribution is an explanation of the stimulus event and reaction to it. Molina presents how these three factors influence sexual behavior in the present research. The researcher makes a certain conclusion according to cognitive perspective, namely the fact that the evaluation of a sexual stimulus presupposes the reaction to it, whether negative or positive. More than that, the researcher points out that a stimulus that is evaluated as the negative one may be destructive or even catastrophic for a human psyche. The author points out that not only hormones and cognitive processes presuppose the role of sexuality in human life, but culture and nationality as well. Learning theory is used to present the environmental factors that shape a human reaction to a sexual stimulus. The author states that the role of human sexuality is acquired by people from their childhood through the gender-behavioral rules accepted in society.
From the above said, the author concludes that human sexuality is a very complex phenomenon affected by a number of factors, including human psychology, learning, and cognition. There are only a few components highlighted in this research. This process is too complicated and needs further research. Such factors as culture, personal experience, and general history should be researched in detail. As far as in the present research, the author does not take into account these valuable facets of human sexuality.
