Management Dilemma
It could be said that a primary question and dilemma, which arises in the management of aviation companies, is the concern about environmental issues. Some aviation companies show high anxiety about the environment. However, it is hard to find a suitable solution, as the change of fuel will affect the costs, and a company will generate lower revenues. Consequently, if the enterprise continues using fuel, which is harmful to the environment, it will have an adverse influence on the surroundings. Moreover, it will raise concerns in society, as people tend to care about the environment. Consequently, it will hurt the company’s publicity in the world. Based on the information provided above, the management dilemma can be formulated as ‘Why does our company starting to gain adverse publicity and generate lower revenues?’.
Management Questions
It is essential to establish coherent research questions to find possible solutions to a problem. Moreover, it will help management reduce the effect of the adverse factors on their sales. Furthermore, it will contribute to finding a solution to the problem. In this case, all of the questions will be addressing whether or not it is suitable to use biofuel on the regular basis in our aviation company. The questions regarding this matter can be formulated as follows: ‘How the management improve its publicity in the modern society?’, ‘What are the possible ways to generate higher revenues?’ and ‘How the situation can be improved in general?’.
Research Questions
Research questions will help formulate possible solutions to the problem. As environmental friendliness is starting to gain popularity in society, one of the potential proposals is to switch to a biofuel. In this case, the potential research questions can be formulated as ‘Should we start changing to the biofuel?’, ‘Should we do it slowly or rapidly?’, ‘Will it affect the company’s publicity?’ and ‘Are other modifications regarding the plane structure necessary?’. It could be said that these questions only focus on the potential actions regarding the economic benefits of switching from regular fuel to biofuel.
However, they do not cover possible questions, which might arise while advertising the company’s green policies and a new image. To be recognized, as an environmentally friendly company, the following question has to be asked ‘If we choose to switch to the biofuel, should we include the information about it in our advertisements?’, ‘Should we also focus on PR?’, and ‘Should we increase our advertisements in the social media?’. Now the company will be able to determine future ways of development after an intense evaluation of the answers to these questions, as negative situations might take place.

Different sources have a significant contribution to the formation of the research topic. However, all of them helped to formulate research questions and dilemmas, and even propose some directions for future improvement. The article Aviation Biofuel from Renewable Resources: Routes, Opportunities and Challenges by Hari, Jacob, and Binitha provides the information about growing popularity of biofuel among aviation companies (Hari, Yaakob, and Binitha 1234). This article contributed to the development of the research, as it describes the economic benefits of the usage of biofuel by the airlines.
The book Biofuel Crop Sustainability by Sign provides information about a necessity to provide favorable conditions for the integration of biofuel into the aviation industry (Sign 380). It could be said that this book proves the essentiality of the research topic, as it is necessary to switch to a biofuel.
The article The Market Development of Aviation Biofuel: Drivers and Constraints by Gegg, Budd, and Ison discusses the possibilities of the development of biofuel in the aviation industry, but it also mentions that some barriers and challenges exist (Gegg, Budd and Ison 34). It could be said that this article is a core determinant of research questions, as it questions whether the usage of biofuel is a suitable solution.
The brief article Brazil Promotes Aviation Biofuels by Lanes, Almeida Costa, and Motoike reports that the Brazilian government started paying close attention to the development of the biofuel industry by generating the fuel from palm trees (Lanes, Almeida Costa and Motoike 33). This article contributes to the development of the research questions, as it states that biofuel started gaining popularity in the world. Consequently, it might be a positive solution to implement this technology.
Another short article Biofuels: Social Benefits by Rist, Lee, and Koh broadly assess the benefits of biofuel, but its impact on the agricultural industry has to be carefully evaluated (Rist, Lee and Koh 1344). This article also questions whether it will be beneficial for the company and society, as it might raise additional environmental concerns, and this fact will affect the image negatively.
Lastly, the article Biofuels Sources, Biofuel Policy, Biofuel Economy, and Global Biofuel Projections by Demirbas describes the global situation regarding the biofuel industry (Demirbas 2106). Biofuel production will tend to expand in the 21st century (Demirbas 2106). This article also contributes to composing correct research questions and determine the management dilemma.
