The success of any company would be impossible without the work of management. Managers ensure that the implemented processes and changes will improve the work and make it smoother. Moreover, they are responsible for the achievement of the desired results and goals. Managers have the power to punish in case the employee does not perform the tasks correctly and reward for outstanding results.
Leadership can be considered as the relation between the public and the person who leads it. Leadership is an essential aspect of the manager’s work. However, the leader is not always a manager. For example, the employee can influence the opinion of the co-workers and change their attitudes but never become a manager. Well-developed leadership skills help managers to be more productive and effective. The task can still be performed even without leadership skills; however, it is better to have them developed. Management is about leading people towards success and improvement. It is preferable that every member of the company would have leadership skills. Every organization has goals and objectives as well as strategies how to accomplish them. For the achievement of this aim, both management and leadership skills are essential.
Warren Bennis and Burt Nanus once stated, “management controls, arranges, does things right; leadership unleashes energy, sets the vision, so we do the right thing” (Phillips & Gully, 2015). The symbioses of leadership and management skills are significant for the achievement of the best results.
