Introduction

Neonatal nursing is one of the profound professions which require excellent knowledge and professional skills in healthcare and neonatal studies. The MSN programs will help me to master new knowledge and acquire professional skills to help babies and their families. I suppose that nurses live and work in a world that has become unequivocally pluralistic in nature and outlook. To put this another way, nurses now live and work in a world in which there is no one single reality, but many coexisting realities (multiple realities) among which they must choose.

The MSN programs will help me to become a qualified neonatal nurse able to meet cultural and personal challenges faced by neonatal nurses. Moral principles include the ideology of autonomy, non-maleficence, beneficence, and justice. It is to examine the content, prescriptive force, and application of these principles that this discussion now turns. Moral principles, for instance, tend to be regarded as providing the content of morality, and the bases or the ‘parent’ forms from which general moral truths (insofar as these can be determined) are derived.

Main body

Besides exceptional professional skills, neonatal nurses should be aware of the moral and ethical principles of the profession. Nursing values involve psychosocial, spiritual, and physical factors of child care. I will do my best to become a highly qualified professional in this field because I have a strong personal aspiration for it. Self-awareness and a nonjudgmental attitude towards patients are the core of neonatal nursing. Neonatal babies differ from other patients because they cannot tell what they feel or need. The task of the neonatal nurse is to predict their needs and problems and manage these problems.

The MSN programs will help me to understand physiological and psychological problems faced by babies, treatment methods, and the role and methods of effective communication. In general, the principle demands that nurses should be respected as autonomous choosers, capable of judging what is ‘the best approach for a patient. As such, nurses should be free to act as they wish provided their actions do not violate the moral interests of others.

Although nurses also should harbor uncertainties about their legal position when caring for critically ill babies, and although there are many instances in which nurses are required (often by doctors) to do something that ‘contravenes the letter of the law’ This sense raises important questions concerning the cultural relativity or ethno-specificity of care and its ability to accommodate people’s personal preferences, health beliefs, health values, and health practices. Failing to provide health care in an appropriate manner can have disastrous consequences (clinically, legally, and morally). The MSN programs will help me to acquire professional knowledge and understand the main moral and cultural principles of the profession.

Conclusion

I believe that a neonatal nurse should possess strong moral and ethical values and understand the main principles of the profession. Practical skills and medical knowledge will help me to contribute to the welfare of the community, especially as pertains to the children. It is widely believed the neonatal profession cannot exist without the existence of highly qualified nurses and this might be particularly true especially for advanced practice nurses. I suppose that advanced nursing practice at its simplest is the attainment of further education, caring skills, and field of practice of neonatal nurses. This profession appears as just one more challengeable for a healthcare professional dealing with babies and their problems.
