Introduction

Management roles refer to roles that are performed by a manager and tend to take the form of organized set type or sort. Management roles are namely divided into three: informational, decisional, and interpersonal. Interpersonal roles tend to provide information. The informational tend to process information, whereas the decisional roles tend to use information. Occupational health and safety issues to be managed include issues that promote as well as secure the welfare and health safety at work, to protect people against safety risks as well as their health, ensure an identification, assessing and control of risks, develop as well as promote community awareness of occupational health and safety issues, and provide a framework through which occupational health and safety issues can be addressed (Reiss, 1996, p.10).

Since managers in their decision-making have to be informed about the issue(s) at hand, then the manager’s roles are directly linked to the department of information and technology. For instance at MDX company, an IT company that deals with software, the manager, Mr. Brown, normally ensure that he is aware of all the occupational health and safety issues(Reiss, 1996, p.12).

Mr. Brown has a unique role, which places him at the front line of decision-making. As a manager, he tries his best to resolve management issues about occupational health and safety issues. He, first of all, ensures that he is informed about them. Secondly, he ensures that he is qualified and competent enough to deal with the issues at hand (Reiss, 1996, p.15).

As a spokesperson of the organization, he informs the employees, through Occupational Health and Safety Committee how important health and safety issues are. As the manager, he deals with his roles such that he ensures that the right information is provided, and also he makes some significance out of the information, and when passing it across he emphasizes how important it is.

Mr. Brown tries to link his roles or the whole of the managerial work as a whole. Once everything is done he goes ahead to involve other decision-making partners, for instance, the upper management and lower management, In doing so he gets more informed and the whole work of informing his employees goes in the right direction (Grung, 1992, p.72).

In the first place as he applies for his roles he is at the forefront to initiate change. He identifies the risks, assesses them, and tries to control them. He makes sure that he emphasizes the necessary precautions which one should take to ensure good health and safety at work as much as possible. He also goes ahead to inform on the delicacy of the plant used, the machines, and the best way(s) of handling emergency cases.

The need for a safe environment, a safe It company as well as a safe staff is paramount. As such the IT companies have in good time involved this information on their websites such that they are accessible. In the same sense, employment chances have been created. Mr. Brown, therefore, comes out as a very important person who gives direction as well as guidance. (Grung, 1992, p.78).

Another thing Mr. Brown ensures is teamwork and the employees concerned to realize their time has been put to good use. Teamwork also brings a sense of belonging to the members and the organization as a whole.

Pressure at work may come in many ways. For one, when there is a lot of work to do. Secondly, when the upper management gets tough on the whole staff members. But the pressure at work should not be taken as an excuse and end up being careless at work, instead of ensuring safety. Mr. Brown takes care of all such risks that employees are exposed to.

Therefore when Mr. Brown sets up a plan or vision for the company he takes care of several factors. If the resources are not enough, he takes care of that. In case of disputes channels them to the department of disaster management. In case of threats or rumors of threats about the organization in question; he also takes care of them.

As for giving credit where it is due, Mr. Brown tries always to get in touch with other IT companies, to strengthen the IT department and the safety issue. He also praises them for the good work they do in providing information. For sure, IT is as valuable as gold. He also praises those workers who take care of themselves and avoid any risks at work.

Mr. Brown also ensures that he is observant and possesses excellent listening skills. As the manager, he listens and also rewards his staff. This is because some employees deserve more than just the normal pay; because of the way they know how to observe the rules. These are people who ensure efficiency and fewer cases of not being safe. If safety is what the organization wants, then, why not reward it? (Reiss, 1996 p.20).

As the manager of MDX Company, Mr. Brown ensures always that there is professionalism at work. He ensures that he gives the right information about risks, for the right people, and at the right time. When this does not happen, then there is no efficiency in the company. As the person in charge, he ensures that he communicates freely on occupational health and safety issues and on the importance of using the website to improve safety rules. Any good manager must ensure such efficiency at work (Reiss, 1996, p.35).

On the side of having a vision, strategies and plans for the company Mr. Brown ensures that he organizes himself well in his roles and processes all the necessary information, sieves it, and picks out what is necessary for the company. Then he goes ahead to share his valuable and good experiences with other managers.

The whole management must also work as one so that cases of inadequacies are not heard. Other staff members cannot work in harmony if the management is not organized. Unless the management gets tough these cases concerning safety measures will always be heard. Since this is not good for the company, the health sector may also end up losing a great deal. Mr. Brown ensures all these especially when giving recommendations on how to avoid risks that MDX Company faces (Grung, 1992, p.451).

Mr. Brown ensures that he always furnishes the necessary information to the staff for safety. As such the whole staff in question stands to benefit a great deal. Unless this happens then many serious cases about the workers are likely to occur. So any time there is a problem with the workers, one and important area to consult is the management.

In his capacity as the manager is also creative enough to present new ideas to the upper management. This manager is not only formal but serious and serious in his presentation. He is also an executive. In case the teams concerned do not work properly or rather efficiently, he normally ensures that he comes up with the right solutions, which ensures efficiency at work (Gurmsmsky, 2003, p.42).

Another role that Mr. Brown performs is to use the information he has at hand always for the better performance of the Company in question to have proper safety.

The good interpersonal skills of Mr. Brown are tested when there is a possible split in the workforce due to bad and poor safety measures. He always comes up with the right solution; here is where he plays the interpersonal role more.

As for the decisional role it is always tested where his competence and qualifications are needed. The informational role is always with the way he processes the valuable information (Reiss, 1996, p.56).

Information is vital for progress, and any case of barrier to information should and must be solved urgently. Otherwise, it would be hard for any manager to perform his role.

The employees must always depend on the management for information on occupational health and safety issues. In the case of crusaders or those championing against cases of overworking employees, they will very much benefit if they depend on IT companies. The IT companies or the IT companies in question will always be under pressure of spreading the information of the crusaders.

Conclusion

A lot can be achieved if the IT Company works closely in avoiding risks at work. The employees of both sections stand to benefit a great deal on the side of good relations. This will also affect the whole of the IT Company positively (Gursmsky, 2003, p.89).

In this twenty-first century, there is always a hunger for information. The good relationship that the IT Company creates will always try to fill that much serious void or gap of information everywhere. As such the employee of the IT Company stands to benefit a lot, and will, in turn, benefit everyone else. Mr. Brown normally does a good job. (Gursmsky, 2003, p.170).
