Relevance of the Study
Saudi Arabia’s healthcare is considered one of the best and most modern globally. Rahman (2020) claims that this “state industry” is a fundamental right and advantage for nationals, regardless of external and personal criteria. However, progress does not stand still, and in the world, several types of hospitals have been formed, having their policy and system of doing relations with patients. Based on this provision, and despite the various privileges for citizens, there are many “pitfalls” that should be known and considered. Hospitals in Saudi Arabia, as a rule, include two types of institutions – magnetic and non-magnetic. Undoubtedly, each of them contributes to the protection of public health and the prevention of diseases of citizens, as well as they have specific characteristics and advantages. Following this, the problem and issue of research were formed, which consists of clarifying and establishing more particular features and key elements of each hospital type.
In connection with the above aspects, the study’s relevance was determined. Primarily, at the moment, there is an insufficient amount of relatively up-to-date and fresh data and knowledge on the research topic. In accordance with this condition, there is a need for an actual examination of the specifics of urgent and topical issues in the field of medicine. Moreover, the importance and validity of the project were due to the extent of understanding working conditions in two types of hospitals to eliminate existing problems and implement new, fundamental changes. It is due to the above elements that this work was developed.
Aims (Purposes) and Objectives
During the writing of the research project, the author created a detailed and comprehensive analysis, review, and evaluation of two types of medical institutions – magnet hospital and non-magnet hospital in the Saudi Arabia Dammam region. Despite the “cumulative” nature of the designated goal, an attempt was also made to understand the goal’s strategy using additional methods and means. Particular attention was paid to such areas as the quality of medical services and the attitude of medical workers to certain institutions through the prism of magnetism and non-magnetism. Furthermore, the scientist applied two types of research to solve the tasks set: quantitative (survey and interview) and qualitative (case study, literature review, and references).
When writing a paper on the research topic, unique criteria were defined for the analysis of the working environment and atmosphere, which allowed later to make an objective and reliable assessment of the data obtained. In addition, the characteristics, features, functions, and specifics of the working conditions in two types of hospitals located in Saudi Arabia were studied. These steps allowed one to look into the essence of the investigated and analyzed problems, obstacles and issues, identify a more specific framework for in-depth research, and draw significant conclusions and finding. The “investigation” also identified and defined the types of hospitals in terms of favorable, positive, and friendly “job settings.” With the help of these actions, a more qualitative and competent comparative analysis of magnet and non-magnet medical institutions was carried out for the presence of special conditions for medical workers. Finally, the author of the work and the researcher of the topic in one person was able to substantiate specific knowledge about those phenomena and events about how the status of magnetism determines working moments. Consequently, in the work’s course, it was possible to realize the intended goals, plans, and tasks and answer the questions.
The Work’s Pros and Cons and a Brief Description of the Results
In the process of performing and writing this study, both significant drawbacks and favorable, positive sides were found. Primarily, there are no reliable quantitative data in the work that allow one to conclude and make a definite assessment regarding a number of aspects concerning both magnet and non-magnet medical institutions. At the moment, there are some limitations and obstacles associated with obtaining the necessary knowledge on the research of working conditions and the environment between two completely different types of hospitals. Hence, there is a need to carefully select and synthesize reliable, objective, and verified information. One should improve certain processes in selecting safer, more correct data. However, the implementation and implementation of certain conditions and the adoption of specific methods, tactics, strategies, and mechanisms for data analysis is impossible due to particular circumstances.
Nonetheless, the research was completed successfully despite the above issues, as well as the expected results, conclusions, and outcomes were obtained. A comprehensive, in-depth, and extensive study and analysis of work environment and conditions in magnet and non-magnet hospitals in Saudi Arabia were carried out. In addition, it was determined not only the environment and atmosphere prevailing in specific types of institutions but also the degree of satisfaction with the work processes and the hospital system on the part of medical workers. Recommendations on improving and developing conditions for physicians and nurses were proposed. According to practicing nurses, Magnet hospitals still have more favorable conditions, unlike their “opponents” (Kelly et al., 2012). However, it should be emphasized and stated that there is no significant difference between the two different hospitals in Saudi Arabia.
Goals for the Future
As for the study of this topic with a perspective for the future, the following concepts should be outlined. Primarily, one should start with creating and developing tactics and special tools that can collect information in the correct “quantity-quality” relationship. Some gaps must be eliminated by all means in drawing objective findings and decisions. Moreover, it is also required to determine more specific features of working moments in two medical institutions, the attitude of employees to these aspects, and to identify the positive and negative sides of magnetic and non-magnetic hospitals. Furthermore, the work should be carried out not only in the Dammam region but also in other parts of the country.
Recommendations
According to the data and knowledge obtained, it should be noted that the magnet and non-magnet hospitals in the Saudi Arabia Dammam region have relatively similar working conditions, norms, standards, and rules. Nevertheless, Kelly et al. (2012) note a more developed system of support and favorable conditions in Saudi magnet hospitals. Hence, non-Magnet medical institutions should consider several key concepts and elements to improve the working environment for their staff.
To date, there is a fairly wide range of recommendations and solutions for improving hospitals’ situation, making certain working conditions and a favorable atmosphere. For instance, Kalisch and Lee (2012) advise management to take a more careful approach to the selection of personnel, as well as the creation of a friendly, trusting atmosphere and harmony. Chiefs and leaders, among other things, must have special qualities and competencies that allow them not only to manage skillfully but also to find a common language with colleagues and subordinates. In brief, to implement the high-quality and effective performance of duties and conduct productive work and activity, it is necessary to create an environment that can fully meet the needs of medical personnel.
