The article considers new types of crime classification and the necessity of considering their criminological peculiarities. It is noted that along with generally accepted criminology criteria of classification – on the content of criminal actions and specificity of the criminal’s personality, it is expedient to use such criteria as the personality of the victim of a crime. This approach allows the readers to analyze crime from a new angle, taking into account its species diversity. The article aims to substantiate the concept of the personality of a crime victim as one of the possible criteria of transgression classification and to demonstrate its feasibility (Methodological Innovations, 2009). In this regard, the allocation of such a particular type of illegal actions as crimes against women to identify their criminological features for the most effective fight against these offenses.

The methodological basis consists of the use of the general scientific-dialectical method of scientific knowledge, as well as private-scientific methods – formal-legal, system-structural, comparative-legal, and statistical. The significance of the article lies in the fact that an attempt was made to substantiate the concept of crimes against women. The criminological peculiarities of this type of crime were revealed and substantiated (Methodological Innovations, 2009). The authors came to the conclusion that crimes against women represent a specific type of crime characterized by a widespread and high level of latency.

Moreover, the specifics of the physical and psychological condition of the victim, a significant victimological component, motivation, and the prevalence of violent and intentional forms of commission are the special features of the acts under study. The implications of this study are that the latter can be used as a reliable theoretical basis for the study of more specific issues of criminology. These include crimes against underage women or the commission of violent acts.
