Multicultural concepts are sensitive topics to address to in the teaching profession, but it is important to integrate them in teaching plans, especially in institutions with multicultural populations of students. In teaching multicultural concepts, the main goal would be to improve student’s skills in identifying multicultural competencies. The main approach would be the development of a teaching plan that looks into training the students to become aware of the influences of different cultures in the society. I would develop a program that highlights the origin of multicultural concepts by reviewing the history of various ethnic groups and would particularly look into the culture and values of these ethnic groups represented by the students. I would highlight the cultural perspectives shared by different ethnic groups in the society to help in creating a better understanding about cultural dynamics in the current multicultural society. The academic content covered in the course must be relevant to the students; hence, I would lay emphasis on studying cultures represented in the class. The lessons on multicultural concepts would focus on enabling the students to acquire effective communication skills across different cultures. I would concentrate on creating cohesion between students with different cultural backgrounds to ensure the lessons on multicultural concepts are applied practically in the class. My teaching program on multicultural concepts would also be individual-oriented. Interacting with the students on a one-on-one basis is bound to reveal what the individual students already know about multicultural concepts. The information would help in the development of a curriculum centred on the needs of the students. I would teach the ideas that the students have the urge to learn to help them understand Multicultural concepts.

The curriculum of choice in the delivery of multicultural concepts to students would utilise books and online libraries, where they would access a vast supply of information about the history of different ethnic groups. This approach would develop a practical learning program that would entail looking into the concepts together to identify with the different perspectives shared by different people about multicultural prospects. The teaching program would entail a detailed account on the migration patterns of different people in the society to create better understanding about the minority groups in the society, and the forces that have influenced the nature of the society with respect to ethnic backgrounds. I would particularly focus on highlighting multicultural issues in the contemporary settings. Issues like racism, discrimination, and prejudices would form the core of the curriculum development for teaching students about multicultural concepts. I would focus on enlightening the students on the adverse effects of racism and discrimination to promote cohesion among the students from different ethnic groups. The teaching program would focus on promoting acceptance of the intra-ethnic cultures within the student population. The curriculum would also deliver information about the demographics surrounding ethnicity in the society. I would also highlight the political, social, and economic diversities associated with multicultural concepts. The modern society is yet to acquire the required level of cultural competence; thus, the focus would be to develop students with high multicultural competency in communication and embracing diversity in different social areas. I would also be very cautious to identify ideas that may have negative effects on the students’ perspectives on cultural diversity. Also, I would consider the similarities and differences between students from different ethnic groups and develop a neutral approach toward delivering multicultural concepts in the class.
