Mystic Monk Coffee is located in Mount Carmel, Wyoming where 13 monks headed by father Daniel Mary live. The monks are referred to as the Carmelite monks of Wyoming and are responsible for roasting of coffee sold to catholic faithful. Since the monastery is located in a small piece of land, Father Daniel has dreams, visions and missions for the monastery.

The paper looks at the future direction for the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming, as envisioned by Father Daniel Mary. It also identifies the vision that Father Daniel has for the mystic Monk coffee and the mission of the Carmelite monks of Wyoming.

Father Daniel Mary established future direction for the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming

Wyoming has 13 monks who are dedicated to a life of worship and prayer. Although the current number of monks is small, more than 500 people have made inquires about joining the monastery. However, Father Daniel Mary’s established direction for Carmelite Monks of Wyoming is to increase the number of monks to 30 (Turnipseed 1).

He further adds that the monks joining the brotherhood should be between 19 and 30 years of age and ready to sacrifice their lives to the monastery. However, they have to observe the vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and all the sacrifices made while living a religious life.

Father Daniel’s vision for the monastery

Ever since its inception, Father Daniel has always had a vision for the Wyoming Carmelite monastery. His vision is to acquire a large piece of land in ‘the new Mount of Camel’ with the aim of constructing a monastery that would accommodate at least 30 monks, a center for lay visitors to retreat, “a Gothic church, a covenant for the Carmelite nuns, and a hermitage (Turnipseed 2).

The Father also has a vision of increasing the number of monks from 13 to 30 monks. In this regard, the Father wishes to acquire a 500 acre piece of land. He has already identified a nearby ranch as a possible buy. Although Father Daniel has shared his vision on the monastery website, it still remains difficult to buy the land. Nonetheless, Father Daniel is not deterred by this challenge.

Father Daniel’s vision for mystic Monk Coffee

Father Daniel’s vision for the mystic Monk coffee is to grow the business to acquire the money needed to build a place for worship, prayer, and solitude. To achieve this, Father Daniel notes that a much larger roaster needs to be required. Through the roasting of coffee, the monastery would be able to sell more coffee to the Catholic consumers who have access to the Mystic Monk Coffee website. This way, it would be possible to use proceeds from the sale of coffee to purchase the required land.

The mission of the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming

The Carmelite monks of Wyoming have the mission was to acquire the 496 acre ranch located in Mount Carmel through donations made by well wishers and profits accrued from the operations Mystic Monk coffee in the monastery (Turnipseed 2). However, the land is expensive and the current sources of income cannot raise the 8.9 million dollars needed to buy this land.

Father Daniel has established a direction for the monastery in that he would like to have the number of monks increase from 13 to 30. All the monks should also be fully accommodated in the planned monastery.

Father Daniel’s vision for the monastery is to acquire more land to accommodate nuns, monks and visitors retreat sanctuary, among others. Father Daniel’s vision for the mystic Monk coffee it to turn the coffee selling business into a lucrative venture to facilitate the purchase of the land. Lastly, the Carmelite Monk of Wyoming’s mission is to acquire a 496 acre ranch through donations and profits made from the Mystic Monk coffee.
