In the format of considering communication topics, the topics of nonverbal communication and the nature of language are the most profound and interesting for me chosen for the work. Relevant sources refer to an analysis of language as a tool (Lou et al., 2019) and a review of the conceptual principles of nonverbal communication (Hall et al., 2019). As a major topic, consideration of nonverbal communication in the context of the job aquirement process as a possible human resources profession is produced.

Nonverbal communication is interpreting, using, and perceiving various signals in body language, facial expressions, gestures, and other variations of conveying meaning in conversation. This topic plays a significant role in interpersonal interaction and has many specific facets, ranging from perceptual features to a greater range of information conveyed than standard verbal communication, which interests me (Hall et al., 2019). In the context of the chosen field of HR work, this type of communication significantly impacts the perception of all parties involved in the communication. It is due to the two-way interest of hiring managers and potential job candidates in a favorable negotiation outcome.

During the initial contact on such an important issue as an appointment to a work position, the interviewer focuses not only on the meaning of the candidate’s words. Every gesture, facial expression, or emotion expressed in this communication format can confirm or deny the person’s future success and suitability for the organization. On the other hand, an individual in a job search evaluates the behavior of a hiring department employee, expecting to find confirmation or denial of expected facts and conditions in their non-verbal signals (Hall et al., 2019). That said, both general notions of the meanings of nonverbal signals across cultures and individual interpretations complicate the communication process but make it a little predictable and interesting.

Negative non-verbal communication in the form of avoiding eye contact, showing anxiety, or excessive hand manipulation can emphasize the nervousness and unreliability of the interlocutor. At the same time, an open posture, appropriate gestures, and calmness can form a positive impression. Such characteristics often matter more to the interlocutor than the words and their meaning (Hall et al., 2019). Thus, awareness of nonverbal communication and its effects helps job seekers in the employment search procedure and recruiters in screening out unsuitable personnel. Overall, nonverbal communication and its interpretation are important skills for anyone involved in the process of communicating with other members of society.
