The main idea conveyed by the authors is that nursing manager succession planning is an essential yet absent part of academic medical center work. The authors found it necessary to develop and outline an evidence-based program for process improvement. The project strove to create an effective pipeline of new nurse manager leaders who are able to take responsibility for retiring or transferring professionals.
