Introduction
Medical researchers and practitioners have been in continuous endeavors to ensure identification of medicines and preventions measures for various medical complications. In the case of congestive heart failure, various researchers have established authentic information concerning the management of the disease. It is however been notable that there is still a gap in knowledge concerning vital management strategies for congestive heart failure. In this case, there is every need to come up with an appropriate approach for managing the disease. A quantitative research design will be adopted across the study. This will entail the mobilization of diverse statistical and numerical data concerning the topic on management of congestive heart failure.
Research objectives
- Discuss appropriate management strategies for congestive heart failure
- Provide an efficient approach for managing patients with congestive heart failure
- Discuss the curative or medical approaches to congestive heart failure
Rationale of the study
This research study is very appropriate in bridging the gap in knowledge concerning the management of congestive heart failure. As it has been observed, there is a high gap in the management of the disease thus calling for further study. Since this study will empirically evaluate the underlying factors associated with hear disease, it is considered as giving future studies on the same topic more light. The major strength of conducting this study is based o0n the assumption that, management of heart failure has been identified by various literatures as being associated with physical exercise. In this regard, the methodical part of this paper will not only help to identify how physical exercise is associated with heart failure, but also overall body fitness. Based on these aspects, the study stands to be very important in bridging the gap in knowledge (Geoppinge and Fitzpatrick, 2000).
Significance of the study
The study results will be of great importance in addressing all issues concerning the management of congestive heart failure. The study will offer adequate insights on the curative and management approaches for congestive heart failure. The study results will be of great importance to a wide population of users. Medical and nursing practitioners will greatly benefit from the study results. Individual members of the society will also benefit from the study results. This is so because they will get insightful ideas on the manner of managing people with congestive heart failure. With this in mind, the study stands to be highly significance in addressing health and medical needs of the community (Kazer, 2006).
Methodology
By considering the relevance and worth of the research study, a comprehensive research study will be undertaken. In this case, an integrated methodology for collecting and analyzing data will be adopted. It is worth noting that the study will primarily dwell on secondary data. This will entail mobilization of data from various researchers and scholars in the field of medical health. In order to ensure relevance of the collected data, only resources concerning nursing and medical issues will be consulted. On the other hand, conscious will be put to ensure that the resources address the management of congestive heart failure thus boosting relevance of the collected data (Lundy and Janes, 2009). The research design will be primarily quantitative in nature. Based on the nature of the research topic which requires statistical inferences, a quantitative research design will be adopted. In this case, adequate numerical and statistical data concerning the management of congestive heart failure will be established.
However, this study will be limited to small number of participants due financial strains and time limitation during this study. With small number of participants, it is quite clear that validity of the results that will be acquired will be limited. However, this weakness of this study will be delimited by involving divert in terms of participation, where the participants will be chosen on random basis with much consideration on gender and age.
Literature Review
Congestive heart failure has been classified as one of the dangerous diseases which are claiming many lives in recent days. Congestive heart failure (CHF) can be described as a state in which the heart acts as a pump in the event of deficient oxygen in the blood. Some of the key symptoms of CHF include fatigue, shortness of breath, diminished exercise capacity and swelling. Some of the key diagnosis of the disease includes laboratory tests, careful physical examination, and existing knowledge on the patient’s medical history. The National Collaborating Centre for Acute and Chronic Conditions has provided admirable management approaches for CHF (Lundy and Janes, 2009).
In response to CHF, various management strategies have been established. As noted by Garad (2007), CHF is a progressive disease which can be efficiently managed. Intensification of the patient’s conditions requires the healthcare team to magnify the medication process. This will call for a change of the drugs or the increase of dosage to counter the conditions. Adoption of a healthier lifestyle is also important for ensuring effective management of the conditions. The key management strategies for CHF include the following (Garad, 2007).
Medication
As noted by Nieswiadomy (2008), the patient should be required to take medications as prescribed by the physician. A patient should accurately take all the mediations as prescribed so as to avoid worsening of his/her conditions. Proper knowledge on the medication on the aspects of their working, time to take them and amounts to be taken should be made known to the patient or his assistant. Some of the common medications for CHF include the following; Beta blockers, Diuretics, Vasodilators/nitrates, Aldosterone inhitors, Digoxin, and angitensin (Nieswiadomy, 2008).
Lifestyle-related goals
CHF patients need to be social and should reduce stress by interacting with their friends and family members. One should learn to relax and reduce stress since it helps in management of adverse effects of the disease (McLaughlin and Bulla, 2010).
Key lifestyles elements to be considered include the diet, weight, alcohol and tobacco, exercise, and enjoy life.
Calling a doctor
Incase a patient experiences unexpected conditions, he/she should call a doctor. Some of the abnormal experiences which deserve the intervention of a doctor include the following.
- Unexplained weight gain
- Abdominal bloating or fullness
- Loss of appetite
- Increased swelling in the legs, ankles, abdomen, or feet
- Extreme fatigue
- Frequent shortness of breath
- Bad cough
Conclusion
In light with the above insights, a patient will be able to adequately manage his/her CHF conditions. As observed in the management matrix, a patient should adhere to proper medication. This should be strictly in consideration with the physician’s guidelines. Change of lifestyle and call for a doctor should also be undertaken. By putting all these issues in mind, effective management of CHF will be attained.
