Both nursing theory analysis and evaluation provide an in-depth understanding of the theories under examination and offer implications for being applied in practice. Depending on the purpose and the principles of the theories being examined, the role of healthcare providers and the expectations of patients will vary. Besides, nursing theories examine the relationship between patients and their providers, intending to develop a holistic approach to nursing that considers the needs of both ends of the care process. In the context of kidney transplant practice, nursing theory and evaluation can be used for tailoring care to patient-specific conditions and outcomes.
Drawing from the findings of analysis and evaluation, practitioners can differentiate between best practices that are more likely to bring success in kidney transplant practice. The treatment of patients through kidney transplantation is highly diverse and will depend on the results of the surgery and the process of recovery. Nursing theory analysis can help identify the framework for the application. At the same time, an evaluation will allow practitioners to take out specific practices, ranging from patient self-care to more involved collaboration. Tailoring care to a patient undergoing kidney transplant treatment is only possible with the knowledge of available theories and practices and prioritizing their implementation based on patient needs. For example, when applying Watson’s and Orem’s principles, the emphasis of the kidney transplant will likely be placed on the promotion of patients’ self-care, the role of nurses as supporters and facilitators, as well as the unique needs of their patients (Machado et al., 2022). Therefore, successful kidney transplant treatment practice will rely on the practical analysis and evaluation of nursing theories that will suggest best practices to enhance patients’ well-being.
