‘The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Destiny’ is a great book which helped thousands of people to create their own destinies. Janet Bray Attwood is one of the co-authors of the book and an internationally known speaker of the motivation courses. In ‘The passion Test’, she describes the ways to find out one’s passions and aptitudes which can help to become successful and realize one’s dreams.
The author of the book suggests us to select five passions and sort them according to the degree of importance. The major passions in my life are the following:
- Graduating from the university. For me it is very important to get my degree as education is the first step to success.
- Creating a happy family. I want to marry a good man and have two children. My family does not mean only my husband, and children, it includes my parents, sister, cousins, and friends. I want to share my happiness and success with them.
- Opening my own clothes shop. This is my biggest dream. I wish to become a famous fashion designer and start my own business.
- Creating something unique and useful for the society. My dream is to do something good for this world and improve it somehow.
- Having enough health and determination to fulfill my dreams. I know that it will not be easy, but I will do everything possible to become a person I want to be.
These are the most important things, which I want to accomplish in my life. I think that my own business and my family, including the future one, are my major goals, and I must do my best to achieve them.
If on my 100 Birthday, my friend stands up to congratulate me she would say: ‘Dear Sarah, you are 100 years old today and you did not waste a day in your life. You have become a successful businesswoman, loving wife, and mother of such nice children. Your road to success was long and difficult you failed and tried again. It took much time and hard effort, but you would never give up. You travelled around the world gathering the wisdom of different nations. The first step to success was education abroad. Then, your career in the fashion company opened you the way to your biggest dream and eventually, you have become a famous designer and owner of a fashion company. Your fashion brand is known all over the world and you have shops in more than 50 countries. I remember that when you were a student your dream was to have a happy family and at least two children. Now they are here with their own children. You had many dreams and you have fulfilled them all.’
Now, as I am standing on the road to my future, I want to say that I am very much grateful for all I have in my life. I have an opportunity to study in one of the best Business Schools in the USA and this will help me in my career. This chance enabled me not only to travel but also to learn much about the culture of this country. I am grateful for having such a wonderful family who support me in everything I do. I am grateful for every morning I wake up in good health to continue the way to my biggest dream.
The author of ‘The passion Test’ suggests several useful guidelines on passing this test. A) Writing down the list of passions it is important to understand that these are not goals but processes. You think of the way to achieve your goal not the goal itself. B) The choice occupation must be based on the things you are talented in. This will ensure that you enjoy your work and it makes you feel happy. C) One must keep in mind his major purpose and not confuse it with the way to achieve the goal. There are some occasions when someone decides to make money for a good purpose but concentrates only on gaining a fortune. D) Doing the test one must not consult with any one as the list of passions is supposed to reflect his own wishes. E) The test must be done in one sitting. F) It is better to do the test in a quiet place so that nothing disturbs you. G) The sentences in the list must be short and clear. These guidelines will help to pass the test quickly and efficiently.
I am an international student; I came in the United States to complete my undergrad studies and then go back to my hometown and work there. I chose the USA because it has better education system that will help me in my work in future. I am in Marketing major and I want to open my own business someday.

I like to read the books on design and business. I believe they will help me to create my own business.
Beside business books, I like to read novels and then watch the films based on those novels or vice versa. This helps me to develop the creative thinking.
If one would ask my friends to describe me, they would say that I am a very joyful and outgoing person though at first I may seem shy and reserved.
I love travelling very much and if all the obstacles are removed, I would like to travel all over the world and learn all possible about nations and their cultures.
I had the happiest day of my life when I came to know that I had an opportunity to study marketing in the USA.
For me Marketing and Management are the most interesting classes. Studying these subjects, I feel that every day I become a bit closer to my dream.
I hope that one day my knowledge and skills will help me to open my own cloths shop. ‘The passion Test’ has helped me to believe that my dream is much closer than I thought.
In my childhood, I was fond of drawing and attended art classes. Now I understand that it was the first step to my dream.
I do not like reading newspapers but the business section has always been of great interest for me.
Today my major concern is education. I study Marketing and Fashion and I wish to combine the acquired knowledge in my own business.
