Types of Prosocial Behavior

Prosocial behaviors are meant to benefit others. People participate in sharing their personal resources, such as money, clothes, and food, to put a smile on someone’s life. As well, volunteering time is a crucial prosocial behavior that every individual in a community should practice. This particular moment is utilized in deriving solutions to already existing problems. Aknin et al. (2019) state that co-operating in society for the purpose to create a common goal is important. In addition, helping someone in need enables one to face the world with a different perspective.

Volunteering

As far as volunteering is concerned, there is much to achieve through it. People tend to think that volunteering is not worth the effort, but that is not the case. Being able to interact with others and make new friends in the process is utterly fulfilling. Volunteering is a form of making society a better place for every individual. Those who benefit through volunteering indicate happiness and contentment on their faces. As well, volunteering comes with its benefit to those who engage in it, there is satisfaction and a sense of belonging to the society (Aknin et al., 2019). Volunteering can lead to referrals in terms of employment, especially when organizations are looking for employees, someone who volunteered might be lucky.

Helping

Helping others comes after someone makes a small request. Some of the helping activities that someone can engage in include: holding the disabled and the old to walk, helping them get their meals on time, helping a family in the street acquire shelter, and helping the sick clean up their mess. A response to a small request involves little individual risk, all for societal benefit (Aknin et al., 2019). Upon achieving something at the end of a day, an individual feels happy and important. Helping others achieve their goal makes one feel essential and ready for more challenges. In addition, by creating time and playing with the disabled, an individual is capable of understanding their problems better.

Sharing

Society is filled with individuals who need to be helped. Shaver et al. (2019) state that different situations make people ask for assistance, hence finding hope from those who are willing to share. Sharing needs one to have a positive attitude and set a goal of whatever objective they would like to reach. Sharing involves giving out own resources, and it may come in different forms. Sharing can be done through dining with neighbors or friends, helping friends with reading materials, or even sharing already acquired knowledge with others to benefit too. A word of encouragement can make someone feel better, especially after experiencing hard times. Additionally, the old need some company and people to share stories with; this makes them feel special and important to their loved ones. Sharing lifts up souls, and people are encouraged to do so tirelessly.

Co-operating in the Society

Co-operating in society is fundamental for the purpose to achieve a common goal. Telling others of importance to obey the law is recommendable. Leading by example as well enhances the ability to focus on social development. Going door by door and educating people on the importance of maintaining law and order is something that every individual should practice. Discouraging misconduct brings a lot of positivity to the community (Shaver et al., 2019). Working with other community members leads to achieving a common goal of peace and unity. When everyone is happy, peace is experienced. Attending social gatherings equips community leaders with easy time, especially when it comes to service delivery.

Conclusion

Daily, human beings must interact with each other and live together. Prosocial behavior enables people to co-exist and build a reputable society. There is no individual who wants to live in a disorderly society. It takes up responsible individuals to shape their community. Sharing, helping, co-operating in society, and volunteering are some of the methodologies used to interact. Sharing is caring, and thus, children should be taught how to care about others from a tender age. Children begin co-operating from the moment they are born. Spending quality time with others is fundamental, especially for those who feel misplaced.
