A survey is a valuable tool to identify how respondents react to a particular situation. To understand how students feel in Keiser University, it is possible to conduct the survey regarding their educational experience in the establishment. The questionnaires typically reveal the strengths and weaknesses of the university. The responses are beneficial because they provide a scope on internal troubles which have a significant impact on students’ lives (Díaz, Ribes-Giner, & Perello-Marin, 2016). To resolve the existing problems and to create even a more comfortable environment for the students, the university should use the survey. The students can be honest as it is less formal compared to other means of filing a complaint in regards to a specific issue. The survey also should consider analyzing current services as well as opinions regarding implementation of the future services.
Each survey has to pursue a specific goal with the assistance of methodology. The most suitable option for the university is to use an online list of questions which are aimed at understanding how students feel about the establishment (Saif, 2014). It is a convenient way to increase an audience of participants who will complete the survey (Pendon, 2016). There also has to be a specific deadline, a week, for example. By providing a certain degree of freedom, students are able to answer the questions when and where they want. A traditional written form of questions and tests will only decrease participation. Therefore, it is necessary to create a flexible and modern type of survey which correlates with a lifestyle of an ordinary student.
First of all, the survey has to help students to identify themselves. The questions can vary; however, it will be convenient to ask for a name, age, and gender, as this information can be used to structure the results and differentiate them (Saif, 2014). Furthermore, the survey seems more credible if an individual who fills it in provides a name. However, it should be mentioned that it is not a necessary action but preferable, compared to anonymous surveys. There is no need for students to write down their full names, just the first one will be enough.
Secondly, it is essential to ask about the experience of studying at the university. For instance, the students might experience certain pressure or difficulties while studying, especially, when they are during their first year. There also might be some problems with their colleagues or teachers (Pendon, 2016). An encouraging environment is vital for the educational establishment, and it is hard to deny that it influences students’ interest. Therefore, any inconveniences or distractions might have a significant negative impact on the academic success of an individual (Saif, 2014). It is also beneficial to learn more about the students’ opinion on the team of teachers and academic life in the university.
The survey should include questions about the online services of the university and the access to them. For instance, the university has an online database of lectures, necessary reading materials, and the personal cabinet of a student. Taking into account that all of the schedules and plans are shared via the online services, their reliability and accessibility are essential (Pendon, 2016). The students who use the online database on a daily basis might be aware about habitual technical issues. The system has to be practical and has a friendly interface to make it more comfortable. Hence, the survey can contain questions related to digital services of the establishment.
Furthermore, the list of questions can include a task to rate the services in different areas of the university. For example, at a campus, on a parking lot, in a library, the quality of food and cleaning services, and extra-curricular activities should be considered (Farahmandian, Minavand, & Afshardost, 2013). In other words, students will be able to rate different aspects of education according to their personal experience. Even though it is based on a personal opinion, there will be a general picture. If all the respondents say the food quality is poor because it will be essential to analyze the situation with it.
The survey includes an open question with a part related to recommendations. No university is perfect, and students can show what features can be improved in the future (Pendon, 2016). Suggestions can be used as pieces of advice from the standpoint of the student. If there are recommendations which correlate with each other, then the university can consider the changes. Furthermore, the part of the survey also shows that the establishment recognizes the values of students’ opinions and their contribution to the academic life on campus.
