Execution of the Business’s Organizational Structure and Leadership Strategy
It does not matter if the organization alters or strengthens its leadership style if it is unwilling to alter its larger organizational structure. This framework acts as a direction and road map for how the business should progress. Psychologist Kurt Lewin described three different leadership philosophies: authoritarian (dictatorial), participatory (democratic), and laissez-faire (delegative) (Cherry, 2022). Delegated leaders allow the group to rule itself if they so choose. Authoritarians are the primary leaders of their organizations, whereas participative leaders engage with their groups (Demirtas & Karaca, 2020). In greater authority styles like paternalistic leadership, the leader adopts a paternal or matriarchal role and treats subordinates and workers like family (Cherry, 2022). The employer expects all workers to have loyalty, respect, and confidence. Understanding the competition and the value of stakeholder participation are essential traits for company success (Why Gareth Southgate Makes a Thoroughly Modern Leader, 2018). Players on the team come from various backgrounds and are valued for who they are as individuals and what they can do. People are more at ease, interact differently, and perform better when they can come to work and be recognized for who they truly are (Dornbrack, 2018). Rather than putting on a polished act, it is better to promote openness within the organization.
A leader should appreciate members’ diversity and should have brought them together for a shared goal. A smart leader will thoroughly investigate the problem and its surrounding environment to assess its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and dangers. Analyzing the success of teams, services, or goods is a part of this. However, it is also crucial to pay equal attention to rivals and the bigger playing field or market the company is entering (The leadership style of Gareth Southgate, 2018). This proactive approach will assist in anticipating challenges, overcoming them, and avoiding failure by stumbling through the unexpected.
Setting priorities and the capacity to work priorities are both crucial. Many excellent priority lists finish up in the rubbish of life. Setting priorities and following through on them distinguishes between those who hesitate and do (Cox, 2001). Effective leaders have the trait of being willing to take chances and take ownership of the results. Either logic or worries will dictate everything they do. Leaders may take calculated risks, integrate change with progress, and have a strong aptitude for problem-solving. They have faith in others, consider others’ needs, and respect a person’s fundamental principles (Vojta. 2010). By developing an organization that promotes and encourages achievement, they will actively reinvent a difficulty to produce beneficial results.
Good processes are dynamic; if a process no longer serves a company’s needs, it is advisable to replace it. For Roll Royce, this entails keeping their teams small, with each team consisting of 3–8 individuals with a range of skill sets and a specific task to perform. That group operates independently and is solely accountable for its success or failure. Each team routinely updates the organization on its initiatives and progress to ensure responsibility. Although it may sound like a terrible method to humiliate workers who haven’t achieved enough advancement, that isn’t the intention here. Transparency and excessive communication are goals.
Communication in Product Development: Implementation
The company must have a plan to inform all its stakeholders about its goal. As long as the structure maintains its position of authority, current communications tactics are convoluted and ineffective in boosting internal stakeholders’ morale and enhancing organizational transparency. The organization must next put in place a cross-functional management and data system that incorporates all of these stakeholders and channels information from the highest, bottom-up, and across several departmental divisions.
Such a system could benefit from the functional matrix, especially for internal operational duties and responsibilities. Watch expenses in business and avoid going overboard since investment in the business is crucial. It is crucial to try to be frugal and only make payments when they are certain they will pay off (Young Guns: 10 of the top young entrepreneurs in the UK today, n.d.). Many businesses fall short of their potential because they are so preoccupied with making sales that they neglect to offer exceptional customer service. Customer service involves more than just responding to concerns. Additionally, it includes customer-focused initiatives like referral bonuses and loyalty programs (Patel, 2015). Instead of merely saying that there is a need to offer better service, it is much more effective to do it.
The organization’s information transmission decisions have a long record of success and failure. The firm will be able to interact with its stakeholders more efficiently and effectively than was previously feasible by using advanced technologies. In this project, social media will help the company cut costs while fostering better relationships with its stakeholders, including its staff, customers, and other stakeholders. Another advantage of the effective digital setup is that it enhances their phone, Skype, and FaceTime communication while providing useful media application strategies (Vogel, 2021). Face-to-face contact is getting less and less common; hence the value of a company’s communication will rise considerably. Additionally, it motivates the business to articulate its goal and win over certain stakeholders while making various comfort-supporting technologies available to customers upon request.
Implementation of the Organizational Structure Change
Although it is evident from the interview that Roll Royce has many challenges due to the new structural changes, the changes will be most successful if they align with the firm’s vision and goal and are embraced by all stakeholders with the right mindset. The organization would have to define the change areas and link them with the firm’s business objectives as part of the first implementation phase as a first step in executing these changes (Lavoie, 2017). The organization must then evaluate the ramifications of these adjustments and the individuals who will be impacted (Define business ethics, n.d.). To completely incorporate the staff into the change process, management must communicate these changes to them in addition to the communication strategy already mentioned. They are important before providing appropriate training and setting up a support system to preserve balance throughout the shift. To realign the organization’s long-term development, sustainability, and financial performance goals for the firm over the long term, the company’s leadership must consider the VRIO and PESTLE studies at each stage.
