Introduction

Background

The online learning center is designed to help one succeed in the public speaking course and the chapter-specific content such as study questions, key- term flashcards, crossword puzzles, chapter objectives, chapter outlines, chapter summaries, and the internet connections can be accessed by choosing from the chapter drop-down menu.

Everyone will learn how to be a better public speaker through clear explanations and thorough coverage. The text’s annotated instructor’s edition, manual, test bank, videos, and other supplements provide the tools needed to create a dynamic classroom; and a new supplement that meets the needs of the online classes.

The problem of learning

Most of the students do not know how to do their homework, or at least how to do it well enough to get any satisfaction from it. A smaller number truly does not have time and there is a need for the whole-family conference to tackle the issues of jobs and babysitting. Others do not plan for the homework and therefore end up not tackling it successfully. The despair to undertake their work can arise due to the difficult home circumstances, in which the children and the youth live in overcrowded, inadequate housing or in homeless shelters, also lack good nutrition and health care, or live with adults who are under severe stress.

Due to these conditions that affect the children then it becomes difficult for them to do what is expected and end up being failures. The difficult school circumstances can also cause despair where the overburdened teachers may meet with five or six large classes a day and the poor teaching and learning conditions often convince students that they cannot learn. By the time the struggling students reach adolescence, then they have learned to protect their self-esteem by saying they don’t care about the work rather than risk proving incompetent by trying and failing.

Another thing leading to failure in the class is when the teachers believe they must teach the students by giving them failing grades when they do not turn in work. This punishment merely confirms students’ view that they cannot succeed and therefore the struggling students know what the experience of failure is like and they end up learning to survive and others even do not attempt when given homework. Another thing leading to failure is to create a strong academic culture that changes students’ beliefs and behaviors, convincing them to engage with their school work. This is very discouraging because some students are brought up in families with strong traditional backgrounds and therefore it becomes hard to live without them hence leading to such failure.

Understanding and caring for students

The suggestions are that the students respond best when working on longer class projects in which they become deeply involved and also the staff members should work together to help one another discover what kinds of homework yield high completion rates. For example, if a student does not understand what is expected to be done then the teacher should be ready to assist rather than giving failing grades. The parents also need to assist the students at home to undertake their homework and be provided with enough time.

This helps the student learn that their parents care about their studies and therefore find that it is of benefit to them to do their work given by their teachers. If for example a student is supposed to provide basic needs like food for the family in that he or she should seek a means of getting income then the results will be very disappointing as the child will end up dropping out of school or even getting worse grades. This happens to families where the father is a drunkard or if both parents conflict and no peace in such a home. The child will see the best alternative to take is either to drop out from school or continue with it and be carefree.

The parents should ensure that they provide the best to their children for the betterment of their schoolwork and avoid students dropping out of school. The academic culture should ensure that it does not affect the child’s beliefs so that each child is given the freedom to get the right education. If for example a student belief that it is taboo for girls to wear long dresses then no school should be against this to ensure that most girls get the freedom to enjoy their stay in school. (McCombs, 1997)

Conclusion

All the students regardless of whether male, female, normal, or abnormal need to be given the right to enjoy school life just like all the others. The teachers should ensure that they do not mistreat the students and in so doing then that problem of poor performance and dropping out from school will end. The parents should be ready always to provide the basic needs to their children like shelter, clothing, and food in order to have good results in school
