Introduction
For the purposes of this work, I have chosen to examine the Ironclad Guarantee provided by the Patagonia clothing company to its customers. Said organization is a reputable brand and a well-established manufacturer of outdoor clothing and various gear. Equipment for hiking, travel, mountain climbing, and other activities can all be found on the website. Taking a responsible stance on its products and services, Patagonia provides its customers with an “Ironclad Guarantee” (“Ironclad Guarantee”). According to it, any products produced by the company are eligible for return, refund, or replacement if it is not up to the customers’ satisfaction.
Discussion
The presence of the Ironclad Guarantee falls in line with the image of the brand as a reliable, friendly, and sustainable source of clothing. In addition, it also works to establish a way for Patagonia to protect and maintain the happiness of its client base. In order to practice effective business communication, it is necessary for a business to translate its brand image along with the intended message of any piece of information it broadcasts (Thill & Bovée). Patagonia succeeds in this regard, allowing it to garner a loyal and confident client base. The message is further reiterated and discussed in the company return policy. The piece of text discussing the principle is small, but it works to provide the necessary information and builds on the relationship between the brand and its consumers. The text directly refers to the clients and places their satisfaction as the center of discussion. Furthermore, it also provides reasonable conditions for repairing any piece of clothing produced by Patagonia.
Conclusion
As a whole, the text is able to fulfill two primary purposes: marketing and customer relations. The company is protected from potential lawsuits or unwanted product returns, while the customers feel respected and cared for. In summary, this piece of professional communication provides a good example of how brands should approach the question of returning or repairing their products.
