With the current levels of globalization, competition has increased tremendously an aspect that is increasing the need for team work in the organization or even society. This cannot be achieved without a leadership concept that includes the subordinates in decision making. In addition, there is a need for a type of leadership that will unite all departments in the organization in order to achieve a common goal. Many organizations have failed to achieve their objectives in the market due to interdepartmental conflicts. These conflicts arise because of lack of a form of leadership that relates with the employees (Greenleaf, Spears, Covey, & Senge, 2002).
Employees are a rich source of ideas to the organization. In many cases top leadership are not able to gain enough information concerning the situation in the market. When servant leadership exists, there is existence of an effective form of communication an aspect that makes it easy for the subordinates to relay information to the leaders (Spears & Lawrence, 2002). Such information makes the organization to be competitive and satisfy the client’s interests as they are able to get first hand information on the consumption behaviors.
Having worked in an organization, good relationship is very crucial to the success of any organization. I am comfortable with this form of leadership because it motivates the employees. This plays a great role in encouraging them to work harder. In addition, it provides a platform where subordinates are able to air their grievances to the top management. I would be comfortable to use this form of leadership whereby, the ideas and concerns of the subordinates are incorporated. This makes them feel honored as part of the decision makers in the organization. Therefore, this concept of leadership makes it easy for the employees to implement the decision.
I would feel comfortable with using this type of leadership because the interest of the organization and the society at large is success. This cannot be achieved when the command emanates from one line. People to be led need to participate in order for them to own the process. In addition, with the increased democracy in the world, people need to be given freedom to be part of the decisions.
Currently, the level of competition in the market is very high. Every stakeholders need to involved in dealing with different environments both internal and external that may affect the organization. This cannot be achieved by an individual. Instead the whole personnel in the organization must unite in finding a common solution to the problem. This would increase the spirit of team work required to achieve the goals.
With many multinational businesses trying to open various branches in different parts of the world, leaders in such organizations need to interact with people from those areas in order to get access to crucial information. This information is significant in helping them segment the market and position the business strategically in the market. Therefore, this form of leadership is very crucial in helping the organization achieve these goals. As a result, organizations should uphold such form of leadership (Wallace, 2012).
Changing challenges facing the society need leaders who will be able to integrate with the subordinates. This form of leadership will provide such platform which will give the subordinates the necessary attention and respect. As a result, this form of leadership is realistic and important in the current global society.
