Having a career as a psychotherapist seems ideal to me and could really be my dream profession. This work involves not only a large amount of diversity in practice and areas of knowledge. But also an opportunity to demonstrate the ability to listen and demonstrate empathy. A therapist is a person who, to one degree or another, the client lets into one’s soul and shares with them something of their innermost, perhaps carefully hidden not only from prying eyes but often from themselves.
Often, the psychological qualities of the therapist are a factor determining how well they perform the work. The skills of a psychotherapist turn out to be associated with the consistency of behavior and the delicacy of communication skills, but at the same time, they require a certain emotionality inherent in a person. Moreover, a positive attitude turns out to be necessary to maintain a mood that would motivate the client to make movements toward his own mood improvement.
Technologies can facilitate any work by making it easier to interact with the organizational routine, giving it the necessary structure. At the moment, one can purchase and install software that can perform the functions of a complex multi-functional organizer. In such applications, one cannot only store the schedule for months ahead and conveniently adjust it but also store confidential information about patients. These reference data and research results can be distributed in the application system in any way convenient for me. Such programs would greatly facilitate the work with patients and would make it possible to compose more complete and integral psychological portraits and histories of the problems of each individual client.
The availability of technology is changing the entire surrounding social landscape and the constant presence of a modern person in social networks has a negative impact on the psyche. Communication on the Internet operates according to new and unregulated rules of language and communication leads to constant problems in understanding. Moreover, the technologization of society can transform the perception of reality and lead to numerous neuroses (Barlow, 2021).
Moreover, the psychological deviations to which the development of technologies in the information age leads are new and hitherto unexplored. This creates unconditional obstacles to working with clients, complicating the method of psychotherapeutic assistance.
A commitment to family values ​​would have guaranteed me to become a family psychologist capable of bringing couples together. Also, it would allow me to work with children and help them find a common language with their parents because I am well aware of the problem of generations and I believe that love can overcome it. Empathy is a condition for well-conducted therapy because without feeling the client’s emotions, it is impossible to understand him.
Persistence will allow me to master the profession and get through the uncomfortable moments of primary practice that could bring down the motivation of another person. Also, perseverance is an important condition for long-term work with clients whose cases can be challenging. Honesty will allow me to make a calming and beneficial impression on the client. Considering that I am an empathic person, it will not be difficult for me to be honest since I sincerely would like to give help. The lack of secrecy in intentions will win over the client.
