History of modern times is full of different events and movements, which have been attracting the attention of the publicity for many years already. Those people who are fond of history may find good grounding for numerous discussions and critics. The libraries have a good store of different books and articles related to the historical topic and cinematograph helps the audience to understand completely some problems by means of their screen adaptation. It should be mentioned that political topics and problems of political movements always attract great attention of the readers, as it is exactly politics that is the subject of lively and exciting discussions. Needless to say that the question of equality of men and women in society gives the plot to the numerous movements in different countries. There are a lot of politicians who made great contribution in the politics of not only their country but the world politics as well. Emmeline Pankhurst belonged to this kind of politicians.

In the 1900’s Emmeline Pankhurst was treated as the voice for women struggling for women’s suffrage. Emmeline was struggling for the right of women to vote, as well as for the their general equality in society. Being brought up in the society with male domination, Emmeline quickly realized all the problems that had to be solved and found the necessary directions to be taken. At that time the greatest part of men’s population regarded themselves advanced to women, and women were afraid to argue with this point of view and contradict it. It was a normal state of affairs although living in such conditions were awsome for women.“ By 1907, the government had regained its confidence and refused to listen to any new demands for reform. Instead, it increased political repression and police surveillance” ( French &Poska 421).

The task of Emmeline Pankhurst was to demonstrate the government of great Britain that women also had the same rights as men and there was no right to overlook women’s demands and ideas. She proceeded demanding to ruin businesses, spoil precious assets, and to dishearten the world by means of failure of English law. While the speech Emmeline tried to focus on using the violence and military tactics, because of the fact that it was the only way to influence the situation and make the government to pay attention to the problem. During the speech she demonstrated that “We are driven to this. We are determined to go on with this agitation. It is our duty to make this world a better place for women” (French & Poska 206). Her speech and movement that she run may be regarded as a cry from the depth on behalf of all women. The reasons and ways out, proposed by Emmeline were very reasonable as there were no strengths to live in such conditions longer. Maybe, the strategy, proposed by her was best one in that situation, as spoiling the personal assets was the only way to demonstrate the real value of humans and their domination.

Emmeline Pankhurst was really outstanding and significant person in the history of British suffrage movement. From my point of view she had the full right to be called the voice of British women’s. Her thoughts and approach to the freedom of choice and women’s right for vote that she proposed were really reasonable.
