Racism, a concept of being a part of society defines the capabilities of the community in terms of how it manages the collaboration with the groups and with other community members. Community relations are influenced by the community’s role representation and recognition in the society with respect to how effectively community leaders perform their role in the upbringing of community culture. Transparency in the communal system extracting equality and human involvement specifies the growth in a particular race and their heading steps towards the progress of the country.
Introduction
I belong to African American race that is the greatest minority race in the present United States. African Americans are actually descendants of partial American and African, therefore, has some genetic characteristics similarities with Africans. This race came into existence with the migration of people from Central American countries and Sub-Sahara countries towards the present United States who faced the era of slavery and their survival leads to their presence as national of the United States. African Americans have got recognition in the country and their presence in the government shows the progress of the community and their recognition in the country. I have in consideration of cultural role discussed the racial impact on my African-American neighborhood community of Denver in the below-given part.
Community Members and Comparison
In comparison to my community, I consider myself more superior to many others who are still struggling to achieve recognition in society. African Americans being one of the major ethnic groups in the United States have a strong community structure that leads to people’s involvement in the community matters and relationship with community members. I, being part of an African American family which has higher household income enabled me to get access to better education, therefore, increased living standards. This provides me an opportunity to have a voice in community matters and problems which leads to my decision consideration due to sound capabilities and knowledge. This recognition in community groups gives me the strength to participate actively in community organizations in favor of correspondence directed towards the protection of the rights of other members of the community. In relation to this, it creates a difference between me and my community members because of a gap between my community positions. Other members, therefore, are inspired by my capabilities and the efforts that I put in for their benefit in community affairs. This leads to more respect for me by other members and community leaders as they value my presence in the community and have given me a prestigious role in favor of my involvement in the prosperity of the community.
Those people in the community who are not well enough capable to support the decisions of community matters and concern more for themselves get comparative less respect by the leaders to make them realize their duties and responsibilities. Community leaders pay attention to this attitude by people who do not perform their role for the community concerns and advise them positively to show their enthusiasm in favor of mutual benefits for members. Other members of community make them realize their responsibilities through their involvement in the group activities irrespective of their belongingness to different ethnic sub-divisions of community. This comparative differential treatment towards people who are not like me is not to degrade their level in the community but to support them independently to pursue their communal goals and their immediate relation with the community group. One such group that focuses on this issue is African-American Leadership Institute that organizes conferences and workshops to promote leadership abilities in the African-American community members. I actively participate in the activities of the group organize at different times in different parts of the country mainly to address the African-American members role for the growth of community nation-wide.
Pan African Arts Society members are also acting like mediating agents to treat people on equality basis and I myself address this issue with showing equal participation chance for community members irrespective of their ethnic background and religions in the shows organized by above stated society in which community activist, speakers and leaders from various ethnic groups participate resulting in a platform emergence to discuss community affairs and preservation of African-American culture in the country.
I keep the information about the people who like me and respect my decisions I take in the interest of community so that when I propose any plan in favor of community including minor group’s rights protection can discuss it with them to increase its effectiveness. These people are not only those who support my decision but also comprises of those who have a leadership position in community or are representatives of community at various platforms such as in corporate world, business conferences, educational policies planning for community schools. This helps me in coordinating with them easily for material and serious community issues discussion.
Media Role for African American Community
Media is actively playing its role to profound the culture growth of my community. Different types of magazines and newspapers in Denver are communicating the message of my community and the hidden talent that exist in the minority groups of country. Among the prominent include Denver Weekly News, Urban Spectrum, and Denver Black Pages. These magazines are effectively representing the community characteristics and people qualities in many ways. Denver weekly news is a community guide newspaper that is very valuable for the rights representation and highlighting of cultural events of African American community. Urban spectrum embrace wide-ranging catalog of local and national cultural events in the Black community. Denver Black Pages represents the corporate vision of my community and summarizes the information about business owners and executives belong to my community. This magazine also organizes special events so that bright individuals of the community can interact with the corporate owners that help in establishment of their careers.
These events are not only culturally centered but people belonging to other communities residing in America also participate to understand the motto of my community and come up with projects that uses human resource, representative of our community for the successful achievement of goals in African American populated areas. I once participated in such an event which was a wonderful experience for me as I interacted with many powerful and charismatic leaders belong to my community which helped me in sharing of great ideas with them regarding the people who are not capable enough to meet the standards of quality life in my community. This interaction provided an opportunity to increase the chances for employment of our community people and protection of their rights at places where they are in minority.
Community Leadership and Internal Motives of Minor Groups
When it comes to similarities with other leaders we all have same motive to present our community to others in more favorable way despite of the internal weaknesses of the community. The people who are in leadership position value the positive outcomes of the community by the active participation in national politics. Current President of our country Mr. Obama is a remarkable history for the efforts of African American at political end of country. He is an achievement oriented leader for our community that represents the thinking not only in terms of community concern but views the equality for all communities. Therefore I totally agree with his policies he has recently made for the employment level of Black Americans in the US organizations. This defines the similarity between me and other leaders of community when it comes to defining the community objectives while valuing the community decision impact on people belonging to different communities.
Majority of people in our community are Christians whereas a minor chunk of population follows different religions that include Islam and many others. This shows the minor groups rights protection and differences in the opinions based on the religion follow-ship; elaboration of decision and opinion for their interest recognition and representation in community matters. This highlights that conflict may arise due to decisions taken by community leaders in respect of community minor groups; whereas to represent the interests of minor groups within the community it can be elaborated with the example of schooling system of Black American schools. Children of Black Americans belonging to different groups attend same session, to manage the interest of these groups special leaves are given to students belonging to minor groups such as following Islam, on their festival and special occasions.
Inequalities in Community and Necessary Change
The biggest inequality that exists in my community is the discriminative behavior by some wealthiest persons towards the poor or low grade people belonging to same community. This difference has given raise to crimes of various natures due to unequal distribution of wealth within the community. Community leaders are trying to resolve this debate and have been giving special attention towards people who have low level of income and are not able to meet the standards of life. Many poor African Americans are involved in crimes such as burglary, theft, and snatching across the nation that is disgracing the community image and resulting in lowering down the white people concern towards other members of community. To protect the community from this distracting image and relative discriminatory issues I will go for giving these poor people leadership position in community to represent their issues and suggesting of solution. By this approach, I think other leaders who are stable in monetary terms can understand the issue sensitivity and can themselves initiate ways by giving employment to these poor people belong to minority groups of community to resolve the problem or to reduce by great extent.
Conclusion
I positively view my role in my respective community through my coordination with other leaders of the community for the rights protection of people belonging to both minority and majority. In relation to community role influence different communities are also recognizing the importance and efforts of African American. Access to politics, improvement in educational system, increased life standards of Black American shows the role of community leaders in the growth of community. Racial discrimination by some wealthiest people of community towards the low grade people of community is a major cause of problems in community that is affecting the image of African American nation-wide. To help reduce internal problems, involvement of people belonging to different types of groups in the community interest decision can help to overcome the weaknesses that exist within the community.
