Introduction
Two journal and article-type selections from the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Journal of Advanced Practitioners in Oncology (JADPRO) are chosen for this paper. Both journals are reputable sources of scholarly, credible content. The context is evidence-based, and sufficient evidence supports the findings that the authors articulate in their works. Therefore, the criteria for selecting texts for publication in APA and JADPRO are appropriate and adequate.
APA
The American Psychological Association (APA) is the professional research journal where I would propose my submission regarding mild TBIs and their post-traumatic effects in children. This journal includes neuroscience and psychological research publications (Mograbi, 2024). There are several themes to choose from, but clinical and experimental neuropsychology appear to be the most appropriate. Additionally, the APA allows the authors to submit a “mini” systematic review as an article submission type (Mograbi, 2024). This is most suitable because it enables readers to understand the findings from various studies, all summarized in a single article.
Another critical detail is that APA is a general journal focusing on psychology. As a result, there are various options for choosing the topic of publication in this journal. The source does not restrict its authors to one narrow sphere of healthcare (Mograbi, 2024). It is possible to find articles written for clinicians, psychologists, and scholars (Mograbi, 2024). In other words, not all articles published by the APA understand the specialized language. It also affects how the articles are written and the measurements that make the publication eligible.
It is critical to note that APA has subsections with their own publication requirements. For instance, the APA journal focuses solely on psychology and neuroscience (Mograbi, 2024). Thus, only texts that feature both topics and discuss the issue from these two perspectives are eligible for this scholarly magazine. It states that APA offers a variety of opportunities for authors working on diverse psychological themes. This publication source has general requirements for choosing a topic. In turn, the requirements for content credibility are high, making it an authoritative source of scientific data.
JADPRO
JADPRO is a professional journal that publishes research advancing oncology patient care. However, after a thorough search of previously published articles, I determined that they also accept submissions for benign blood disorders such as Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) (“Submissions,” n.d.). This journal explicitly publishes work by physician assistants, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, advanced-degree nurses, and pharmacists (“Submissions,” n.d.). It also reviews articles comparing the recently investigated first-line treatments to the currently recommended monotherapy treatment with corticosteroids (“Submissions,” n.d.). It states that the materials accepted by JADPRO are evidence-based, ensuring they provide only objective data on the topics.
At the same time, publications in JADPRO are restricted to a single field of medical science. It makes the journal specialized and supposes a narrow focus on the texts that can be published in it (“Submissions,” n.d.). As a result, this journal is a good choice for scholars specializing in oncology. In case the focus on the practical or theoretical application of the information in the oncological clinical practice is not evident or not clearly articulated, the article is not eligible for publication in JADPRO. Therefore, scholar planning to publish their article in this journal should evaluate these criteria in detail.
Other Publishing Options
There are no better options for selecting criteria for publishing the research. However, there are equally good sources where the article can be published. For instance, sources such as NCBI have more general publication requirements because they collect all healthcare-related scholarly articles. As a result, the texts on oncology and psychology are published on NCBI. It is reasonable to assume that the criteria for selecting texts for this source are more general, as they rely on the work of journals such as JADPRO and APA before an article is published. Combining these criteria ensures that all texts the reader finds on NCBI are credible and published in reputable, evidence-based sources.
Recommendations and Conclusion
It is possible to make several suggestions to increase the likelihood of article submission acceptance. First, the author should ensure that the text does not contain formal mistakes and typos, which makes fact-checking, re-reading, and editing the critical parts of the work before its publication. Second, the researcher should clarify the topic and emphasize how the article relates to other investigations in this sphere. It integrates the investigation into the discussion of the theme, increasing the chances of its successful publication as part of the debate.
In addition, the article should meet all the formal requirements of the particular journal. For example, it should include the abstract, the author’s credentials, and the reference list of all sources used in preparing the research. The article should also be free of plagiarism, as this violates. Therefore, editing the article according to the journal’s standards is vital before submission.
