Introduction
Anti-inflammatory drugs are aimed at relieving inflammation and pain symptoms or reducing their manifestations. The pathogenetic effect is exerted by drugs that suppress inflammatory reactions, affecting the process of their formation. Anti-inflammatory is divided into non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and corticosteroids according to the chemical composition. The study of this class of drugs is interesting because non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are widely available in almost any pharmacy. The wide range of uses of anti-inflammatory medications is also exciting and noteworthy.
Use in Treatment
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and corticosteroids are used to treat many diseases. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are indicated for inflammatory diseases of the joints, neuralgia, disorders of extra-articular tissues, post-traumatic pain syndrome, postoperative pain, migraine attacks, upper respiratory tract infections, and residual effects of pneumonia (Shmerling 1). One of the most popular drugs is Aspirin, which treats illnesses and relieves symptoms ranging from headaches to surgery recovery (Shmerling 1). Corticosteroids are primarily used to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system to treat asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema, Crohn’s disease, and multiple sclerosis. Corticosteroids are manufactured versions of hormones typically produced by the adrenal glands.
Route of Administration
Anti-inflammatory drugs are usually tablets that must be taken after meals. Anti-inflammatory ointments are used to alleviate local pain symptoms that occur with diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system (Zelman 1). Even the most vital anti-inflammatory drugs are not a remedy for the underlying condition, for example, if they are taken for a headache caused by arterial hypertension. They help reduce the intensity of the inflammatory process and relieve or eliminate pain for a particular time but do not affect the pathological processes that caused the pain syndrome.
Conclusion
Anti-inflammatory drugs are among the most popular drugs used to treat various diseases, stop inflammation and reduce pain. One of the most popular drugs in all countries is Aspirin, which is present in almost every family’s home first aid kit. The most common forms of release are tablets and ointments. The sites WebMD and Harvard Health Publishing were used to obtain information about the drug group.
