This report targets the description of a life path of an outstanding American journalist and educator, who occupies a post of the Chief Officer of the U.S. Math and Science Initiative. The selection of a person was made on the basis of the journalist’s achievements and honors. As a future media specialist, I am deeply inspired by the activist’s motivation and leadership, which she continuously evinced through her career performances. Specifically, I am impressed by her ethnic integration. The journalist is known as one of the leading Hispanics in the USA.
Background and Career Start
As a Hispanic person, the educator and reformist considered ethnic prejudice eradication to be her task from the early childhood. The activist was born in Texas. The woman has always been interested in media development as well as the U.S. education. Thus, she chose journalism as her future occupation and, subsequently, was conferred a Bachelor’s degree in the field at the University of Texas. Throughout her study, the journalist started working on the research study that focused on the educational pressures. Specifically, the prosperous student was deeply concerned with the experiences of Hispanic learners in America. After the graduation, the journalist worked as a reporter for San Antonio Express. However, since the activist was motivated to succeed in her post as a policy-maker. Therefore, the journalist made a decision to return to the University of Taxes in Austin and earn her Master’s degree in business administration.
Career Experiences
The career experiences of the journalist are quite multidimensional. Nevertheless, all occupational positions of the journalist brought her closer to the realization of the ultimate goal. Initially, she spent sixteen years working at one of the most successful American telecommunication companies AT&T. On this post, the worker mastered business communication. One of the key practices that marked the activist’s career was her involvement in the management of Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF). The activist occupied the post of the president of the project for nine years. Finally, in 2006, the journalist was Under Secretary in the Department of Education of the USA. Consequently, tracing the specifications of the journalist’s career, one can deduce that her life position was directed to the elaboration and improvement of American education.
Major Achievements
The person is one of the most respectable personalities both among the representatives of Hispanic community and among Americans. Thus, in the post of an HSF president, the journalist managed to double the number of Hispanic graduates in the USA (“Regent Sara Martinez Tucker” par. 1). At the time of her involvement with the Department of Education’s work, the activist succeeded in improving a vast range of policies, programs, and grant systems (“U.S. Department of Education” par. 5). Prior to it, the activist successfully led a $400 million telecommunication sector within AT&T. Finally, the motivated journalist was awarded numerous American and international honors such as Distinguished Alumna and Outstanding Young Texas Award.
Conclusion
Thus, this report reviews the facts from the life of an American activist, who contributed to the improvement of the U.S. education. Within this field, the reformer achieved three primary objectives. First, she expanded the accessibility to the higher education for Hispanic students. Second, the educator raised the standards of multiethnicity in American academic environment. Third, the activist managed to maintain a robust educational fund. Thus, it is my extreme pleasure to introduce Sara Martinez Tucker.
