A self-assessment test was carried out to show the factors that motivate people. The exam had 12 questions and a total score of 60, and the results were divided into three groups; The first, second, and third groups had scores in the following order: 12-27, 28-43, 44-60. This essay aims to display the exam results, analyze areas of strength and weakness, and develop solutions to improve the areas of weakness.
The test indicated that I had more weaknesses than strengths. I had a total score of 23 out of 60. The self-assessment test displayed that I had power in goal setting. Goal setting is a crucial activity when achieving goals. Goal setting aids in setting clear and challenging objectives. It also ensures that essential schedules are prioritized and that I remain committed to completing my responsibilities. In addition, it helps me monitor and track the progress of my projects, thus maintaining a sense of momentum. However, the results also proved that I had a shortcoming in focus and self-esteem. The results showed that I had self-doubt and low concentration when accomplishing objectives. According to Van Der Roest. (2017), self-confidence plays a huge role in determining the career of a person. People with high self-esteem view difficult obstacles as a challenge, thus putting more effort into crushing their targets. In contrast, people with low self-esteem will view the same obstacles as impossible objectives hence putting little effort into accomplishing them. Laser focus enables us to execute a particular job effectively without any distractions, especially when we have a variety of work.
According to Chang. (2021), I would increase my focus by training my mind, taking short breaks, and having enough sleep. Adults who spent 20 minutes daily training their brains through games had higher concentration rates than adults who did not play the games. The games involved are mainly sudoku, chess, and crossword puzzles. These brain games improve problem-solving skills and increase short-term memory. Brain games will improve my memory and concentration levels, allowing me to have laser focus when tackling my duties. Psychology research has shown that concentrating for too long depletes attentional resources in the brain (Nollet & Franks, 2020). Consequently, you need to shift your mind to partake in unrelated tasks. Taking short breaks when working would ensure I have a sharp mental focus, thus increasing my concentration. Sleep deprivation decreases memory and concentration rates (Nollet & Franks, 2020). Sleep deprivation also reduces your energy levels, inhibiting your ability to do daily activities. I would improve my sleep by sleeping for 8 hours and exercising regularly. These activities would ensure that I perform at my optimum level daily.
I would increase my self-confidence by positive thinking, exercising, and setting goals. Positive thinking is crucial in building self-confidence (Van Der Roest & Kleiner, 2017). It is vital to have positive thoughts, especially when things are not going your way. Suppose you have positive reviews about your capability of achieving a specific assignment. There is a high probability that you will succeed in completing the job hence improving your self-confidence. However, suppose you have negative thoughts about your capability of achieving a specific assignment. In that case, there is a high probability of failing to achieve the goal, hence decreasing your self-confidence. 75% of people who hit their physique body desires through exercise have higher self-esteem than their colleagues who never exercise (Van Der Roest & Kleiner, 2017). Exercises improve self-confidence as partaking in drills shows that plans can be achieved when you are willing to work towards the set targets. Having high self-confidence and self-esteem means that I will set and achieve very challenging schemes.
The self-assessment test is crucial as it helped me figure out my strengths and weaknesses. It also helped me self-reflect on my self-esteem, focus, goal setting, and how to improve on my areas of weakness. I would recommend this test to anyone interested in discovering their strengths and weaknesses in self-motivation.
