The personality test is an instrument used to evaluate the disposition of an individual. It assesses the behavioral patterns displayed by a person in non-identical cases. The test is helpful in different fields such as clinical diagnosis, speculation of people’s reactions to other circumstances, and remedial interventions. The test can be used to determine a change of behavior, assess the effectiveness of the specific curative procedure, detect mental problems, and interview job candidates. There are different types of personality tests that have become common and are guided by different postulates. The most frequently applied personality test includes the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and The Big Five Theory (Kolmer, 2020). There are also various other personality test theories such as The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and sixteen personality factor questionnaires, but this paper will only cover the previous two approaches.

One of the most applied personality tests today is The Big Five Theory of personality. This theory argues that a person’s character includes five wide dimensions: sociability, agreeableness, dutifulness, neuroticism, and bluntness. The model claims the five major character traits exist as a spectrum (Ackerman, 2019). For example, when evaluating extraversion, an individual will be categorized as wholly extroverted or introverted. However, it can be further scaled down to determine the extent of extroversion (Najm Najm, 2019). By analyzing characters based on these ideas, the different personalities of individuals can be quickly established. Considering the feature of extraversion is a spectrum that includes different levels such as friendly, insistent, energetic, adventurous, hopeful sentiments, and warmth (Lim, 2020). The critical five postulates, though not entirely exhaustive, at least partially take into account all personality-related phases.

The Myers-Briggs personality type indicator is an individual report inventory created to point out the personality category of a person, strengths, and priorities. Inconsiderate to the questionnaire filled, an individual is identified to have one of the 16 broad personalities according to the Myers-Briggs personality test (King, 2020). This test focuses on the respondents investigating and recognizing their character traits and their weakness, their probable occupation preference, and what they like and dislike.

No character trait is better than the other; therefore, MBTI is limited to an individual only learning more about oneself. ISTP (introverted sensing thinking and perceiving) is one of the 16 personality categories highlighted by MBTI (Cherry, 2020). Individuals with these traits prefer being independent and thinking on their own. STPs like taking things out of the ordinary to find out the outcomes. They are thoughtful and reasonable, nevertheless, interested in empirical applications rather than theoretical ideas.

The various biases that may affect my decision-making include availability bias and reflective bias. Availability bias, this type of bias affects my decision-making based on the facts around me when I am making my decision. Reflective bias is also a major impact on my decision, as it alters the mind by comparing the circumstance at hand with another case that appears similar to it. These biases lead me towards making the wrong decision. Therefore, I can avoid them through the following ways; analyzing the situation at hand independently without comparing it with other occurrences that may appear similar to it. Carrying out hypothesis testing involves making predictions of the outcome of a decision, gathering unbiased information to qualify or disqualify, and finding out whether the details support the assumptions.
