Introduction

Latin America refers to those countries of America that developed from the colonies of Spain, Portugal, and France and the official language of such people is English. It also refers to the entire western hemisphere that is in the south of the United States. The area was colonized by the Europeans who sailed from Portugal and Spain who spread to most parts of America and the Portuguese settled on the coast of Brazil. The conquerors came with roman concepts of laws, administration, and justice and therefore they affected the people’s cultures, language, and also the institutions where they imposed their own to be followed by these natives.

The religion was also affected and they used the church as an economic producer where they got money by forcing the people to pay any activity that was to be done to them by the priest and they also held positions in the government and therefore these natives had no say in that time of colonization. The Americans have been many that are about 90 million as compared to the European population. The settlers and the conquerors were limited but used military skills and weapons to colonize this population this is because the natives did not know the use of military tools so they were easily conquered.

The native populations that existed during the colonization era were cleared by a disease that was brought by these colonists and thus the country was affected economically as the population was no longer productive and the only population that survived worked in the plantations and the mines. Most of the labor force that was used during colonization was the slaves that were from Africa and Brazil and thus Latin America had the cultures of the continents that the slaves were taken from in terms of languages, customs, religions, crafts, and lifestyles. Despite the cultural variations, the social structures developed throughout the region. After the end of colonization then agricultural exports, mining, administrative efficiency, defense, and the expansion of the frontiers developed.

The underdevelopment of Latin America and the characteristics in different countries promoted the sense of tensions that affected peace in that country. Thus the violence in the country affected the country’s survival economically in that people had no time for work on their farms and thus these natives were not able to survive such hard time and thus they had to find how to earn living. The economic opportunities for these indigenous people living in Latin America were mainly on the low-skilled occupations in which the people because of lack of training had to involve themselves in activities that never required modern techniques and thus such occupations were low paying and they mainly depended on agriculture for their survival.

Thus their income was mainly from agricultural activities and thus such people did not involve themselves in other activities apart from agriculture. The social interaction effects were critical for the success or failure of the initiatives that were aimed at providing economic opportunities for the people.

This is because if people are aimed at taking an activity then it will be done depending on the interaction that exists between the people that is people will work well if they have the same language and therefore it is easier to help someone using the same language than that from another tribe and thus the indigenous people in Latin America worked best with people from the same tribe.

The need for change in this country was mainly based on the political reform that was believed to completely lead to the total change of its structures. The authority and the decision making in this country supported systems that favored the privileged groups but keeping away the unprivileged groups and thus these people had to get their means of survival as the government had no concern for them and thus by legal norms the authority had to ensure that the people get their rights.

The distribution of land in this country was unequal during that time whereby the natives had poor lands that were less productive and thus they had low production. Even today the inequality still exists and thus these people are seen to have no rights and therefore they have to fight for their rights so that they can have a better survival from their agricultural produce. The land sizes are also very small compared to the nonindigenous and they are pushed from the productive lands to the less productive. Such people have low production and the small-scale producers in the country had to have a better way of ensuring that the production is high because they were seen to be people who had no right to have productive lands. Thus such people have no right to have ownership of the lands and any time they are forced out of the lands.

The holding of assets led to improvement in productivity was by the economy of such people raised. These people had assets that they held a claim on but it is evident that these people had no rights just like the nonindigenous and therefore they had assets that were of low value. The education that was given to the indigenous was also different from that of the non-indigenous this means that the school programs were very different and they had the best teachers for the nonindigenous children and the untrained for the indigenous and thus the children received minor education that was of less importance in the country. This meant that they were not able to work in the best positions as the education was of less value and that is why they practiced agriculture that did not require skills.

Conclusion

In Latin America, there have been two groups which are indigenous and nonindigenous and they are treated differently in terms of economic, social, and political basis. These indigenous people have no rights that are equal to the nonindigenous and therefore they have to get the worst that is in education, in survival, and other fields. For example, their children receive poorly educated due to the issue of having untrained teachers to teach them, and thus the education is not important to them in terms of assisting them to have a better way of survival. The country should ensure that the people are taken to be equal and therefore be given equal rights to have improvement in the economy.
