Demographics

Total population of the USA is 331,893,745, Texas – 29,527,941, Austin – 964,177 people, and 114,032 – East Austin (East Austin demographics, n.d.; QuickFacts, 2021). Gender distribution is almost the same – 51% of males and 49% of females (East Austin demographics, n.d.). Age distribution is the same: persons under 65 years – 21%, under 18 years – 23%, and under five years – 5.6% (QuickFacts, 2021). No information about family composition within the chosen community is available, but it is said that about 91% of all families live in the same house (QuickFacts, 2021). In East Austin, about 70% are households without children, and 30% are with children (East Austin demographics, n.d).

Racial/Ethnic Characteristics

In the USA, Whites prevail (75%) over Blacks (13.6) and Indians (1.3%) (QuickFacts, 2021). In the community, Austen, and the state, similar characteristics are observed: 87% are Whites, and 9.4% are Blacks (QuickFacts, 2021).

Addressing statistics, East Austin citizens avoid serious complications related to obesity and alcoholism, but abusive behaviors cannot be ignored (Mapping the volume of non-drinkers, 2019; Stein, 2022).

Cause-And-Effect Relationships Discovered

The more people drink or eat unhealthy food, the more chances of being diagnosed with heart disease, diabetes, or cancer are observed. Austin residents should improve their lifestyles and eating habits and decrease alcohol consumption.
